I’m a mechanic. I put a lot of miles on my car and change my cars oil myself. I inspect the oil that I remove after every oil change. *I have never submitted it for chemical analysis.
There are a number of oil filters that fit my current vehicle. I’ve been trying one after another and changing oil and filters as needed. While using the Wix oil filter and Wix air filter, the oil in my car’s engine kept it’s color and viscosity for roughly 15% longer than the next best filter. The Mobile 1 oil filter is my second choice. It also cost less and is more widely available in my area. That being said; when factoring in the cost of oil, the Wix pays for itself. *As does the Mobile 1 when compared to Fram, AC Delco and AC Delco Gold.
For example; the Wix cost me $6 more than a fram filter but, with it, the oil last twice as long. Given that the oil I’ve been using costs about $28 per change, the Wix filter saved me $22. ($28-$6)
*The Mobile 1 was only $2 less than the Wix and provided protection for 85% the time and mileage. This is still a good value, albeit less so when I consider my time and the waste involved in getting the products involved to market and recycled.
Plus, I feel better knowing that my money is going to a company that is producing a better quality product than their competitors.

Filter was in a box that was torn apart too and bottom even though the torn box was in a sealed plastic bag how long and more importantly how many times was it dropped ( filter did have a small dent on the bottom) or how long was it exposed to dust and grime. Doesn’t instill confidence
