I’ve always like WIX filter products in my gas & diesel vehicles & equipment, This 51307 filter carries on a well-earned tradition. Surface clean & prep work is everything. Clean away any dirty oil dripping on the engine filter mating surface & prep the rubber seal on new WIX filter with a liberal film of CLEAN oil. Here’s a tip if you’re a novice at this. If the engine block is still “very warm” when you spin on the new filter hand tight, wipe any residue from the filter & give it another tightening nudge with your hands, Only. Two reasons for the finishing touches. As the engine block cools off, the metal contracts very slightly & could allow a small drop or two passed the filter seal. Wiping the filter exterior clean after installation makes it easier to see or feel any areas of future concern. Well Done.
