I’m using this as a way to stream imagery from an 8″ telescope at 220X, to an ipad, using an external camera. Touching the camera even with your eye / forehead at these magnifications makes for a shaky image. This little jewel solves that problem at a very low cost.
The good:
Is easy to use
Cost is relatively low
Power drain is pretty low
Video image is OK
Has a power out plug reducing the number of power plugs required
Sets up quickly with an iPhone
Actually has a password you can reset
Supports many other applications where a simple imagery to WiFi link would be beneficial
The not quite as good:
It’s not a 1080P picture, but it’s workable
Was only able to connect 1 device at a time
I’m pretty happy with it, and hope there is a 108P or 4K version coming soon.

So far so good. This transmitter seems to work. We just plugged it in. This was a replacement for another transmitter purchased from a different vendor that did not work when plugged into power. I’m unsure of the longevity of the product yet.
50s Dreamer –
Works great for integrating your tablet or smartphone as your backup camera screen. Takes alittle to get use to, but it serves its purpose. It automatically turns on when placing vehicle in reverse, however it does not turn off once you put vehicle in park. You will have to close out the camera app. Otherwise it functions as described.

Installation was fairly easy, I tied in to the blue wire (light harness on rear driver side Hyundai Sonata 2011) so it turns on when the car is put in reverse. I paired this with the CAR ROVER® Color CCD Sony Chip 100% Glass Lens 170 Degree Wide Angle Car Rear View Reversing Back-up Number Plate Lamp Camera with the idea that we could use our cellphones as the screen. It takes longer to initialize the wifi network to connect to the phone app than is useful, and if you are trying to do a multi-point turn it is unusable as the wifi network turns off/on each time you shift out of reverse. Syncing the phone to wifi and opening the app takes 15 seconds minimum. The app DOES NOT WORK with my Samsung Edge 7. There are about three versions of the app in the Google store, none worked with Samsung but was able to get it working with a Moto X Pure.
You should either plan to wire it so that it is always on or run a dedicated video wire to your screen near the dashboard. Trying to use it in reverse-only mode is pretty much a waste of time.

Installation was relatively easy, the aspect ratio is pretty archaic. It’s 2024 and we don’t have wide screen? If you are using it as a backup cam make sure it has constant connection, otherwise it takes at least 60 seconds to turn on, connect to wifi, and see in the app. The app doesn’t auto start with wifi connection either. The other down side is that when connected to the camera wifi, you lose your data connection. So when you’re driving you can’t view your camera while you listen to music. That’s not terrible when using it for backing up, but you can’t use it for a traffic cam. Even still, having to connect to the cam via wifi and then open the app just to back up is daunting and annoying. There HAS to be something better out there. I just haven’t found it yet.
Update, downgraded to one star. In just a few months the unit is garbage. I’ve got power to it, all things are normal, the unit is no longer transmitting a wifi signal. Absolute POS.

This device works great with a simple camera. I did wire it to my running lights so that I do not lose wifi signal if I have to go into drive. The reason I purchased this is to place my trailer on my hitch. I don’t this it is a good set up if you want to use it as a back up camera for your vehicle. I would suggest a monitor that you power up to along with a camera. Because there are steps you have to do with the wifi 1) wait for signal while in reverse
2) connect to wifi or wait for connection 3) activate wifiav App. This can be a pain every time you want to back up.
Overall I am very pleased for what I use it for. There is a good connection and wifi signal. An occasional lag every now and then. For a $70.00 system with camera and extension cable it sure beats the $400.00 system an audio store wanted to install.

Overall pleased. Wired this transmitter to aux power so that WiFi comes on, stays on when car is. WiFi boots up in a few seconds. Phone recognizes the wi-fi signal at same speed as other newly turned on WiFi signals, about 8 seconds, a limitation of the phone, not this product. Then open app which opens and works very quickly, just a few seconds. I wired the camera to reverse lights and image comes up almost immediately. Not hi def but still quite clear and fine for it’s intended use. About a .5 sec delay in the image, again fine for it’s purpose. This would work fine for monitoring a trailer, etc. as well with constant camera power Input. Would recommend a hard wired to monitor system if you’re using regularly to help reverse upon initial car startup and don’t want slight delay mentioned above. After initial start up there is no real delay. I’ll only be using in a more emergency/ unfamiliar areas use and thus this will work fine. However again the time delay on car startup is due to recognizing the wi-fi signal, a limitation of the phone.
I have Samsung s6, make sure to hit reset button 4 times on xmitter once installed as the instructions state for Samsung products, then it will transmit Samsung WiFi from there on out (vice wifiav signal )and should work.
And yes app is limited no frills but it’s a backup camera transmitter, not Photoshop. Displays video behind the car with a standard red yellow green indicator. After initial alignment it does the job.
And finally I don’t have a problem using Bluetooth or cellular while this WiFi is connected, though you may have to adjust your phone setting priorities if this is an issue for you.
