good stuff…can’t go wrong with WD40 products

I use this on highly exposed parts on my RV. I primarily use this for prevention in areas prone to rust. The best prevention is to ensure any rust is removed and painted appropriately. That being said, there are simply places that cannot be painted, such as scissor stabilizers or areas exposed to road debris. This is where this product comes into play for me. In one situation, simply because I did not have the time to properly fix it, I just sprayed it on the affected area to prevent further rust. By the time I got back to it, the rust was almost entirely removed. Because it was more of an unsightly issue than a critical component, I let it sit longer. After two weeks, it just about removed all the visible rust and protected the part even in dusty and arid conditions. It didn’t seem like it dried out. I was impressed. This will be used for removal, prevention, and quick fix to prevent further damage until it can be properly fixed.

Overall, this is a good product, but a bit pricey. Time will tell how much a 6.5 ounce can will last, which will ultimately determine its overall value. For effectiveness, it works great. I would recommend.

    Very good!

I have a woodworking shop near Houston. It’s very humid most of the year and fighting rust on my cast iron tools is a constant battle. I tried this WD-40 corrosion inhibitor and had mixed feelings about it. First, it’s a really small can for the price. Second, it works really well, but leaves a sticky coating. Unfortunately, wood cannot slide smoothly across this coating. The sequence I have developed is to spray a thin coat of WD-40, rub it on and cover the tool. When I need to use the tool, I uncover it, wipe off the WD-40 with mineral spirits and apply a coat of wax. When finished, I recoat the tool with the WD-40. It does stop rust, but it’s not practical for my use.

Smells funny – works great, goes on thick when you spray it.

    Great product!

For rusty hand tools, I take several steps:
    1. Place all hand tools in a 2 gallon bucket of distilled white vinegar.
    2. Let stay for 3 to 4 days.
    3. Rinse off with hot soapy water, and use dish scouring pad as necessary.
    4. Dry with hand towel.
    5. Spray joints with WD40 lubricant, such as pliers and wire cutters.
    6. Spray this rust inhibitor onto each tool while holding tool in a 5 gallon bucket to catch the overspray.
    7. Wipe off vinyl or composite or wood (hammers) handles with a soapy rag.

Tools are now as new and protected from rust. This rust inhibitor works much better than WD40 penetrant for rust protection. Think of WD40 penetrant and this rust inhibitor as being complementary, not just one or the other.

    Buen producto, denso

This is a small can, and I should be ordering twice as much as I think I’ll need.

A product somewhat similar to Brownells Rust Veto, I have a one pound container of Rust Veto, and has the consistency of a very waxy heavy grease, significantly deterring corrosion and very long lasting. How metal was packed many many decades ago.

Now finally, WD-40 seems to have a spray-on similar corrosion prevention material/product. Especially since many of a us whom religiously clean engine and metal parts using WD-40, only to subsequently watch those parts rust because we didn’t apply something preventing corrosion! Seems WD-40 might be coming back into the corrosion prevention market…

The WD-40 Corrosion Inhibitor sprays a heavy greasy material, along with a light petroleum like mineral spirit material onto your target, and will stay put. I am guessing, on metal products with frequent handling, the target can be wiped down, similar when using Brownells Rust Veto product, so as not to leave a sticky messy residue and will probably more completely somewhat dry more so providing a thin layer of corrosion protection.

WD40 is a standard because it works so well.
