I used this on my 2003 Chevy Cavalier with 114,000 miles. The muffler is original, but the hangers only last about two to three years each. Best bet is to remove the rear tire; makes the install much easier. I put the bolt on threads up; again, just easier. It’s now October 2021 and I’ve installed another. I think it’s a great product. Sure they rust out, but with winters in Wisconsin, everything does.

I painted mine with primer and heavy duty paint. And covered liberally with fluid film.
Everything needed came in the box | BOLT, NUT, STRAP. Was a quick 15 minute job. Used a floor Jack to keep the muffler up. Ripped out the old one that fell off. And installed a new one. JACK STAND WOULD HAVE WORKED TOO.
These are getting hard to find so I took every chance to extend the life of mine.
Highly suggest putting a coat of paint or two on yours as well. They like to rust hard and fast.

It did not fit my 2005 Chevy Cavalier. The insert connected to the band was U-shaped and too big so it would not slide in to the rubber muffler hanger.
I took some huge bolt cutters and trimmed off a touch and it worked. The band was the perfect size and slide easily over the muffler and under the heat shield.
Might have been other ways to slide it into the muffler hanger, but I did not really want to mess around.

Took about 15 minutes to install using just a wrench and ratchet socket. Most difficult is pushing the bracket thru the rubber piece on the car due to tight fit & limited space, align with slot in rubber and push thru while wiggling a little. Note: Strap that goes around the muffler was not exact same profile but it’s flexible so you can easily straighten out a little and bend around to fit muffler profile. This may be due to slight differences in OEM vs aftermarket mufflers. Works perfectly and 1/2 the price of some parts places and definitely less than local shop install. You can do this!

I had no muffler strap,and was holding my muffler up with plumbers tape though it kept breaking on me. Got the strap put it on and now I don’t have to worry about it anymore.

To make this trash fit your muffler, you need something to cut it, vise grips, and a 3/8 drill bit. This may look like work, but it’s a ten minute fix.
1) If you’re proficient with a hammer and vise grips/vise, pic 1 shows a time honored alternative fix.
2) This is how the bracket and the matching muffler fit together “normally”.
3) Get the circumference. The dotted lines I marked are where the flat hanger angle needs to be to line up with the frame mounted hanger.
4) Transfer the measurement to the bracket. The line pointed out by the arrow is where the muffler’s seam will be as to having the hanger part be in the right place between the dotted lines.
5) Mark the other end.
6) Here’s where I messed up. I marked the strap length but forgot to add another 3/4 inch at each end to bend up for the bolt flanges. However, the included bolt was just long enough to work anyway. Do it right; add 3/4 inch to each mark.
7) Bend up the end flanges and drill 3/8 inch holes. With some manual bending and unbending, the bracket now fits with minor gaps that will mostly flatten out when I tighten the bolt at the very end of the job.

This fits a 2000 caviler perfectly. Is very simple to install and heavy steel. I expect it to last much longer than previous brackets that I have had professionally installed and I paid considerable less for this one. The hanger slides into place, and there is one excessively long bolt to close the clamp, but the bolt does not got in the way of anything, it just makes it easier to close the very strong clamp.

Needed for my ’01 but didn’t realize there’s space type mount and rod type mount for where the bracket connects to the frame, my ’01 was rod type and didn’t really feel like returning this so I modified it to work. Just double check what type mount you have before ordering
