I recently purchased the Vantrue N5 Dashcam, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision! This dashcam has exceeded all my expectations, and I’m thrilled to share my experience.

First and foremost, the video quality is outstanding. Whether it’s day or night, the footage is crystal clear, capturing every detail with precision. The wide-angle lenses ensure that all four directions are covered perfectly, providing complete peace of mind while driving. It’s like having an extra set of eyes on the road, parking lot, or anywhere else I go.

The setup was straightforward, and the dashcam works flawlessly. I’ve been using it with a SanDisk memory card, and I haven’t encountered any issues.

What really sets the Vantrue N5 apart is its 4-channel recording capability. It captures the front and rear simultaneously, which is incredibly useful for comprehensive coverage. The build quality is solid, and the compact design doesn’t obstruct my view while driving.

Overall, the Vantrue N5 is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for a reliable, high-quality dashcam. It’s packed with features, performs exceptionally well, and delivers on every promise. I highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a top-tier dashcam. Five stars all the way!

La compre en junio (2024) y al día de hoy viernes 9 de agosto del (2024) salió una línea en la pantalla… que estresante y que coraje que una cámara que me costó al rededor 445 dls (casi 9000 pesos mexicanos) falle de esa forma.

I have to say, I’ve used and installed quite a few dash cams in my own vehicle and in family member vehicles, and this Vantrue N5 dashcam is among the best.

It includes so many features, with some standouts being:

    – Super capacitor, not a battery. This is critical for Canadian winters and the longevity of the dashcam. Super capacitors performs so much better, so I’m really glad to see it here.

    – The app is actually good! The app is easy to use and even has good reviews in the Google Play Store, a rarity!

    – Voice control. While I don’t use this feature myself, I do know people who use it often, especially when they encounter road events that are not related to a collision.

    – Starvis 2 night vision is quite a bit better than older generations.

    – 24h parking mode. Most dashcams have this, so it’s good to see here. And as with other dashcams, you will need to either use an external battery or a hardware kit (sold separately).

    – Support for up to 512GB sd card. With so many cameras, you’ll want to get a large memory card, especially if you plan to record long trips and not just accidents.

    – Four channel cameras. This is the big selling feature here. Most dashcams offer either a front or a front and rear. This one offers a front, rear, and inside view from both the front and back.

    – GPS comes included.

While these features are outstanding and the quality of the videos (from any of the cameras) is quite good, there are a few complaints.

First, the rear camera is inside facing out, so you may get glare from your rear windshield. Licence plates are still easy to read, but if you have tinted windows or get strong reflections, it may not be as clear.

The second thing is that the cameras can be moved up and down (vertically). The field of view is good, but I wish the front (inside-facing) camera could be angled towards the driver’s side window to record police interactions.

A final point with a camera system that records inside your vehicle is that this could be a double-edge sword. In the event that you are forced to turn over recorded evidence, what happens inside your vehicle could hold you liable for what happened outside your vehicle. This is especially true in an accident, where you might be “distracted”. Just be aware of those implications.

I do think that this camera would work well for a rideshare driver, since recording what goes on inside their vehicle could help them in the event of a dispute. One thing to keep in mind is that the rear camera (facing inward) might have a clear line of sight to a passenger’s phone screen, so I would personally make it clear that they are being recorded from behind.

In conclusion, this camera system has a LOT to offer, and can work extremely well in quite a few scenarios where every angle needs to be captured. While it’s not the best for driver window interaction, there’s enough captured by the inside cameras to more than make up for a lack of horizontal camera adjustment.

The user experience is excellent, and the video quality is clear and hiccup free. It is still more advanced (i.e. complex) compared to a single camera system, but these tend to be “set and forget” devices anyway.

Regular, nada sobresaliente en cuanto a imagen la app falla muchísimo la conectividad con la cámara me parece muy alto el precio en relación al funcionamiento general de la cámara

I bought this dashcam because of its 360 degree coverage. When I unboxed this N5 dashcam, I was impressed by the build quality, a lot of improvements were made since the very first N2. The product feels very premium. The quality you get is worth the price tag on this product.

Using the USB C cable that came with this dashcam (see attached picture), I was able to check all the features first to make sure everything is working fine before I installed it in my car. Installing this dashcam was very easy, I didn’t have to use any tool as I just ran the cables through the crevices of the side and roof panels of the car. I used the Vantrue OBD adapter for this N5 dashcam so that I don’t have to tap on the fuse box to utilize the parking mode. My setup worked out perfectly, I set the OBD cable adapter to turn off when voltage goes below 12 volts to prevent discharging the battery. Parking mode on the N5 works fine overnight, but sometimes it misses a few events since my battery voltage goes below 12 volts, so I need to adjust the threshold lower. One thing I love the most about this dashcam is the 5GHz option in Wifi. This option makes transferring videos and images from the dashcam to smartphone very quick and smooth.

The information that can be optionally embedded on the captured video are also very useful. Information such as date and time, speed, GPS coordinates, and your own license plate can be included in the video so that it can be used later in case of an event.

The video quality from this dashcam is very impressive. Attached to this review is the very first video (pardon my dirty tinted rear windshield) that I downloaded while testing out this dashcam. I didn’t attach the inside sample videos for privacy reasons, but with all 4 cameras, I can say that it does overlap with each other to capture all the surroundings in a 360 degree fashion. Images from this dashcam is clear enough to see license plates in case of an event. The mobile app for this dashcam is also well made, I was able to configure everything using the app instead of the menu in the camera, which is very convenient.

Overall, I’m impressed how much Vantrue has improved over the years. This N5 dashcam is high quality, easy to use, and produces high quality videos. Highly recommended.

TLDWTR: (Too Long Don’t Want To Read): This is a great 4 channel dash cam system. It came well packaged, has high build quality, fantastic image grade, comes from a reputable company, and has a well-built application backing it.

    Full Review:
My Vantrue N5 arrived amazingly quickly and safely packaged. Once I removed it from the shipping materials, I was presented with a smartly packaged camera and the components to make it work.

Laying out everything on my kitchen table, I found there to be the following included:
    – 1 Front camera (with front interior cabin camera)
    – 1 Rear camera (with rear interior cabin camera)
    – 1 GPS mount (for the front camera)
    – 1 USB C 12v adapter (with additional USB A plug for phone charging)
    – 1 USB C to USB A data cable (for connecting your camera to your computer)
    – 1 20 ft USB C cable (for power and signal between the rear and front cameras)
    – 2 Electrostatic sheets (for between your windows and the 3M adhesive of the cameras)
    – 2 Primer wipes (for prepping the windows)
    – 2 Protected by Vantrue stickers
    – Some additional 3M adhesive (should you opt to relocate your cameras or remote)
    – 1 Plastic prybar/removal tool
    – 1 Microfiber cloth (for wiping off fingerprints)
    – 1 Comprehensive manual
*You must supply a MicroSD card to complete this setup and a hardwiring kit if you want your system wired to something other than the 12v adapter in your vehicle.

The night before my installation, I updated the camera’s firmware from the comfort of my kitchen table. I hooked a USB C cable up to a portable battery and installed the Vantrue application on my phone while the camera powered up. With the power on and the app installed, I could start the camera’s configuration. You’ll be prompted to select a language, timezone, and other basic options from the camera at the initial power-on using the buttons on the bottom edge. After turning on the built-in WiFi (2.4 or 5ghz), you can move to your phone for the more advanced configuration.

As I selected the camera in the application, it prompted me that there was a firmware update for my new camera and that it could download and install them for me (both front and rear camera units had firmware updates). This process was quick and worked flawlessly. I was ready to dig into the application once the camera had completed the installation and restarted. The application gives you the ability to synchronize the time on your camera from your phone (an excellent quality of life improvement), select resolutions and frame rates for the cameras, disable cameras you might not want to use, configure the information that will or won’t be overlaid on the bottom edge of your recordings (date/time, license plate #, GPS coordinates, speed, and branding), as well as a multitude of other options. With these options set, I was ready to do the installation the next day in my vehicle.

I got to the installation on my 2018 F-150 in the afternoon. It took about an hour to get everything installed and all the cables tucked away. As advice for anyone attempting this install, be sure to use those included electrostatic sheets between your windows and the camera’s 3M adhesive. Removing that adhesive a couple of years later is a tough job.

I mounted the front camera on the passenger side of my vehicle, up behind my rearview mirror, over just far enough that the front internal cabin-facing camera could see everyone but me, the driver. This location also keeps the camera out of my regular line of sight while driving. The power for this camera comes from an adapter between my rearview mirror and the power feed into it. This camera is bigger than others I have seen due to the addition of the cabin camera.

I then ran the USB C cable for the rear camera up and around my windshield, tucked up into the header, and down the passenger side A-pillar (after removing the cover to ensure I didn’t get tangled up with the side curtain airbags). From there, it ran along the door trim sill plate until coming back up along the rear passenger pillar and tucked in behind the soundproofing material on the back of the truck cabin. Coming into the installation, I figured the 20ft of USB C cable would be too much; by this point, I started to get nervous about the length of cable I had left. Luckily, I had just enough, about 8 inches in surplus. Plan when you are choosing your path for cable routing!

I mounted the rear camera above the center seatbelt reel on my backseat so that it was out of the way of my sliding rear window (which opens to the passenger side on the Gen13 F-150s). With this location, I could keep it mostly centered on the truck and capture the tailgate of my vehicle and most of the bed and surrounding areas off to the sides. Additionally, thanks to the flexibility of the camera and the application for managing it, I could flip the image since my rear camera is technically upside down.

I could start using my new cameras with all the configurations set from the night before. Overall, I am blown away by the quality of the images coming from the front camera. The image sensor is a marked improvement over other cameras I have seen and used in the past. The rear and both cabin cameras are limited to 1080p, so they aren’t the most powerful but should be sufficient for most people’s needs.

The application allows real-time viewing of the cameras, cycling between fullscreen views of each camera, and pulling videos and images to your phone for use elsewhere. In its current version, the application works well, finds my camera each time, and moves content quickly. The ability to support multiple cameras (should you have a second car with a Vantrue camera installed) is a great bonus.

I’ve included a sample of the footage from both the front and rear cameras (sorry, not the inside since the kids wanted to ride along).

I am exceedingly happy with this purchase and would strongly recommend this product.

  7. SuperE

Excellent camera for the Uber, Taxi, Lyft, Rideshare driver. Excellent front footage. Surprisingly good footage on interior even at night. Above average rear footage. Also, if its in the budget, an excellent camera for the family minivan with a boat load of rambunctious kids or babies in rear facing car seats. The rear camera actually makes a great baby cam for the rear facing baby seats!

++++ Front Camera Sony Starvis 2 IMX675 WDR 1944P!!!! Crisper, brighter pictures with less motion blur. (Sony Starvis 2 has improved low light sensitivity with much brighter low light images and video quality and lower power consumption for parking. License plates could be read clearly in city driving during day. At night, license plates were clearly visible when parked.)
++ HDR Rear Camera has 2MP Sony Starvis Night Vision Sensors 1080 p with much better night images with less light halos and better images, supposed to show license plates at night (but we don’t have them so I couldn’t say)
    + 2 interior cameras: Front Cabin Camera WDR, 4 IR lights 1080P; Rear Cabin Camera HDR, 4 IR Lights 1080P;
++++ voice control: no more trying to fiddle with the camera while driving to take a photo, lock a video or turn on the wifi (especially the wifi – because on my other camera its really annoying connecting my phone so I tend not to).
++ 5 GHz wifi – this is great for downloading clips faster but on a practical basis also quite useful as I don’t have to switch my phone wifi to 2.4Ghz when trying to connect.
++ unlike previous versions, this camera does not have reduced image quality when all cameras are in operation (all do 30 FPS and (I believe) advertised resolution)
++++ main camera uses a magnetic pin connection which is very easy to use and very strong (cool beans – nicest mounting option I have seen – love this system – trick to removal is to straighten the camera out and pull straight out. There are guides inside and pins so you cannot damage the pins.
++GPS logger to include both location & speed information which interfaces with the app to show your driving map alongside your video.
+ has parking mode – with 4 different recording options to choose from based on your needs (and power consumption), etc.
+ uses a supercapacitor instead of batteries so, when winter comes to the frozen north, I expect that it should stand up to the worst Canadian winters
    + great packaging, looks expensive
+ bright & large display, with easy to use control buttons
+ well-designed app (much better than others)
+ cables are thick, good strain relief and feel quality
+ has picture in picture so can have multiple viewpoints at one time
+ 3M adhesive, cleaning wipes and microfiber cloths
+ cigarette charger for has extra usb A charging port for your personal devices
+ works with up to 512 GB External Storage!!
+ includes a trim tool for installation
+ includes security stickers to let thieves know your car has video security
    + records in H.265 Codec
+ excellent support for the product via social media and a well-regarded company (IMO)

+/- unsurprisingly, with 4 cameras, significant power consumption
+/- collision mode doesn’t start recording until 10s after impact and then records a 60s video, so if person high tails it you might not get any video

    NOTE:
    – it is recommended not to use a SanDisk SD card for these cameras and recommended that you use Vantrue specific cards, I wish this was included
    – wiring harness for parking mode not included
    – there is an extra CPL filter sold separately which helps to reduce glare but for the price I wish it was included
    – not ETL certified or UTL certified (surprising considering the price and quality
    – some of the previous vantrue camera’s hardwire kits and CPL lenses will work with this model if you are upgrading

I am moving up from a more basic $150ish camera so this unit is a big step up to say the least. So while I love all the features, they may not be unique to this camera at this price point. However, I still think this is worth the investment for your safety, security, and potential legal or insurance purposes. This brand has also sold a lot of cameras and I consider them a “known entity”.

  8. R4LDZ ✅

I recently upgraded to the Vantrue N5 4 Channel WiFi 360° All Sides Dash Cam from my previous Ventura N2, and I couldn’t be more impressed with the decision.

First and foremost, the installation was straightforward, and the compact design fit seamlessly in my vehicle. The 360-degree coverage is a game changer. Unlike the Ventura N2, which had limited angles, the N5 captures everything around the car, giving me peace of mind during drives.

The picture quality is exceptional, thanks to the STARVIS 2 technology. Even during the day, the clarity is sharp, and the colors are vivid. But what really stands out is the IR night vision capability. I took a late-night trip recently and was amazed at how well it recorded in low-light conditions, making sure all important details were captured.

Additionally, the WiFi feature is a fantastic addition. I love that I can easily access the footage directly on my phone, which makes it much more convenient for reviewing clips or sharing evidence when needed. The app is user-friendly, which further enhances the experience.

The build quality of the N5 feels sturdy and reliable, making me confident in its performance during different driving conditions. Overall, upgrading from the Ventura N2 to the Vantrue N5 has been a significant improvement in terms of functionality, image quality, and ease of use. I highly recommend this dash cam to anyone looking for comprehensive coverage and reliability on the road!
