  1. Simple Reviews

The coils arrived as expected, and right out of the box, there were no issues. Everything was intact, with nothing broken or missing, and nothing appeared defective in any way.

I ordered these coils because I was experiencing issues with two of my OEM ones on my 2013 Accord Sport. The symptoms ranging from rough idling, decreased engine power, difficulty starting the engine, a check engine light, and a yellow triangle with an exclamation point etc.

I ran diagnostics using my OBD2 tool, which gave me different readings along with the codes P0351 and P0352. I also performed a quick check for any obvious problems, such as accidentally forgetting to properly plug in all the coils the night before (yes, it happens to me more than I’d wish it did). I visually inspected the OEM ones also for any signs of damage, like cracks, burn marks, corrosion, or melted plastic on the coil housing, and damaged wiring since that can also cause coil failure, so if you notice any visible damages like these on yours, it’s likely that the ignition coil needs to be replaced.

I am fully aware that, when purchasing ignition coils, the most important things to consider are compatibility with your vehicle, the quality of the brand, and whether the coils are from a reputable manufacturer. While it’s possible to use generic ignition coils, it is generally recommended to opt for brand-specific or Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) coils whenever possible. They are more likely to meet the exact specifications and quality standards required by your vehicle, potentially leading to better performance and reliability compared to generic options.

As with all parts, the worst ignition coils tend to be counterfeit or from uncertain origins. Therefore, I avoid parts supplied in unbranded boxes. I am picky like this for lesser items even more so for car parts, but I thought I’d give these a try since they were needed, and OEM ones cost about $75 each plus shipping.

Before I started taking things apart, I quickly did a simple resistance check with a multimeter on the new coils just to make sure they were fine in that quick test, and they were. I went ahead and replaced the defective ones with the new coils, and they worked very well and are still functioning great!

There has been no rough idling, difficulty starting, poor fuel economy, check engine lights, or backfiring or stalling!

The reason my OEM coils failed was that they experienced excessive heat. I accidentally sprayed brake cleaner on the rubber gasket while doing my brake job, and though ” meh it was just a little” and not thinking much of it put them back in. Over time, the rubber gasket on them swelled and failed to properly seal out oil, leading to oil filling the spark plug chamber. The heat would dry the oil, but it damaged the coils in the process.

These new coils have resolved that issue, and I still have two left over just in case I do another one of my car bloopers!

Overall, I am very satisfied with these!

For the ignition, my mechanic told me to order this product. It was installed on an Accord, 2016 and so far everything sees to be working great.
