I used this on a pre charge circuit for a brushless motor controller, I wanted a delay before the main contactor turned on, while some high end controllers have this. The one I was using did not.

I was able to program a set delay that is trigger by a ground wire on controller and have exactly what I needed.

    The programming was easy.

Cheap, easy to use, works well, many use with projects.

Love these devices… so handy! Works great and remembers perfect. Using with a relay and a non-contact liquid level sensor in my RDWC.

Was looking for a programmable delay relay control board that was triggered by 12VDC power application. This unit is perfect. Has a little confusing instructions to set the proper relay board mode, but was able to figure it out with a bit of trial and error. Basically is connected to my vehicles 12VDC and when the board sees power it counts down 7 seconds (time is programmable) and the “closes” the normally open side of the relay for 1 (also programmable) which emulates an Auto start/stop switch manual button press. This is required as you cannot just short accross the same manual switch as this vehicle has internal programming that requires that Auto start stop switch to be “open” when the car is started. Placing the “normally open” side of the relay across this switch emulates an “open” switch at car start and then after a 7 second delay “closes” the “normally open” side of the relay which emulates the Auto start/stop button press. And it does not alter the function of the Auto start/stop button. If you want to turn on the Auto start/stop function, all you need to do is press the Auto start/stop button a second time manually. I do want to add that this worked well for my particular vehicle model but may not be suitable or safe to use for your model vehicle. Incompatibility or improper installation could damage your vehicle and void your vehicle’s warranty. Please do not alter your vehicle’s electrical system or wiring if you don’t have proper electrical/electronics training and understand basic electrical safety practices. But for my project it was just what I needed.

Read the setup procedure below to understand how to program this timer.
However, after learning how to program it, I ran it through 111,000 cycles with 2 seconds on and 2 seconds off. It worked beautifully and never missed a beat. I had it connected to a relay control board so it would turn the relays on for 2 seconds then they’d be off for 2 seconds then back on for 2 seconds and so on. Over 100,000 cycles without a failure. Not bad, especially considering the price.

The instructions that come with it are limited. Here is another explanation of how to program this timer.
    1st…..To set up the timer…
Press and Hold the SET button… this puts it into program mode
    To Select the function
Quick presses of the Set button will step through the four functions. The function selected is indicated by the small blue LED just to the right of the readout. These functions are:
MO… When this light is illuminated you can select the Mode. you select 1-18 (see the instruction sheet that came with the timer
T1 … When this light is illuminated you can set the time for T1
T2 … When this light is illuminated you can set the time for T2
NX … When this light is illuminated you can set the multiplier for the time of T1 and T2

MO – the MODE OF THE TIMER. Set to between 1 and 18 based on how you want the timer to work.
See the instruction sheet that came with the timer for a limited explanation of the modes. It’s best to
experiment with a couple before choosing a final Mode
T1 – FIRST TIME PERIOD DELAY. Based on the mode selected, this is the delay from first receiving the input trigger pulse until the second action T2, happens. Look at the graphs provided with the timer for further explanations. Make sure you understand what happens at power up compared to the what happens when the trigger pulse is applied.
T2 – SECOND TIME PERIOD DELAY. Based on the mode selected, this is triggered by the completion of the T1 delay and in some modes reapplication of the trigger. T2 determines the delay until the next action happens.
NX – NUMBER MULTIPLIER. Used to set the values of T1 and T2 to greater than 9999 seconds. The default value of NX is 0101. To determine the actual time delay, T1 is multiplied by the left two digits of NX. The resulting value is the delay in seconds used by timer.. Similarly, the right two digits of NX are the multiplier for T2. As an example, imagine T1 = 2000, T2 = 4000, and NX = 0105. Then the actual time delay would be 2,000 seconds (2000 x 01) for T1 and 20,000 (4000 x 05) for T2. A setting of NX to zero appears to do nothing.

Bought 2 units and both are unuseable. When power up, they show ”0” and the button doesnt work and cant set anything.

I am using this product to delay the turn on of my car audio amplifier to a set time after the car is turned on due to the charging system. Functionally this works perfectly.

I did have minor confusion while setting up as my original intention was to have the DC in always powered and use my remote (ignition source) as the trigger. It turns out this is not a possible configuration and I had to power the device directly off my remote. In my case my remote is able to supply the required current, but in other situations it may not.

My primary gripe is that the case is not easy to install. The holes do not line up well, and I ended up giving up and just using the base without the cover. It at least provides some protection and provides integrated standoffs, though it certainly does not look as clean. Perhaps in the future I’ll modify the holes so it fits.

  7. Ace Rockola

This is a rock solid good quality product. This was the perfect solution to rig up a solution to trigger remote entry on a door buzzer system. (Hint: connect power supply to an Homekit enabled plug, and activate by voice from anywhere in the world… ) The relay design is reassuring — fail safe. If power fails, it’s going to physically click back. Think through all failure scenarios to be power safe, this kind of physical relay is key. Instructions may not be the clearest, but it can do lots of modes.
