As you can see in the photo. The original part had seen better days. The new part was a little bit longer than the original but zero issues on install. A perfect solution to a potentially expensive issue.

Checked locksmiths in this town for years. Couldn’t find anything even with the old “shaft” in hand. Looking for a split doorknob SHAFT online. Didn’t know that it was actually a split SPINDLE! Looks like a shaft to me.
