On some VWs, transmission fluid is not added at the engine compartment, it’s added through a two part plug below the transmission fluid pan. Certainly a nuisance, but simpler with this device. It was an easy way around a stupid design.

Have a good look, and clean off any bits likely to get into your transmission. Price is right, & I don’t have genuine vw/audi tool or other high priced fitting to compare it to as far as the rough-ish casting/threading, but the pointless black paint is frustrating. The threads and the inside have it, and – right out of the bag – it is flaky. There are also some rough bits of metal wanting to dislodge. You may have noticed the listing mentions aluminum in one place and steel in another. Mine is aluminium – hopefully less likely to cause harm via the rough threads or bits getting into the fluid. I’m going to give it a good scrub and cleaning inside and on threads, to get the flakes off, as best as I can.
