The kit was fine, nothing wrong with it , but returned because the motor we were going to use it on was no good after further inspection.

Seems way overpriced for what you get. There’s no instructions on how to use. I guess your supposed to know that already. It has parts that I have no idea what they go to. Overall, it works just fine and comes in a nice case.

Worked exactly as expected on an 05 Mustang 4.0L. Probably not precisely the same fit and finish as a Ford tool, but you wouldn’t be looking at this if you had the budget for that. A couple of pointers:
-On the squareish locking jig that goes into the end of the camshaft opposite the sprocket, you may have to gently tap it toward the camshaft with a mallet to get the “teeth” seated into the timing grooves before tightening the bolt in the middle to lock it into the camshaft. Not a complaint, I’d rather it be too tight than too loose.
-On the same squareish jig, it does have a little bit of rotational play. Stack washers between the jig and its bracket bracket to hold it steady. Perfect timing.

It did set the timing on the 4.0. I had to make some adjustment to the tool itself which required grinding the strap for the sprocket side tool. It would not spin with the strap on with bolts loose. I’d pass on this set. Get the OTC kit and be done.

This tool caused valve timing issues. I rebuilt a 4.0 engine and purchased this tool to time the engine after pulling the motor, replacing all the valves, seals, bearings etc. Right bank did not time the valves properly so after I got it all together and turned the key, the valves on that side bent, so I took it to a mechanic shop and it did the same for them. They ended up pulling the motor again sending the head off for new valves etc. Had to manually time the engine. Left bank worked perfectly.

I liked the price of this timing kit and it performed as well as the OTC timing kits….having said that those of you doing a timing job using this kit for the first time there are no instructions so go to YouTube and pull up a video and watch it a few times
