This is an industry standard low strength #222 purple thread locker, meant for use on smaller screws and bolts that are up to ~ 1/4″ in diameter. It is a 10 ml bottle.
These “purple” thread lockers are great for keeping small bolts and screws from loosening over time from vibrations, where you do not want to use a higher strength thread locker because you may want to remove the fastener in the future using hand tools and without applying heat (for example for readjustments). As an example, I just used this purple thread locker to help secure some bolts on a camera tripod that keep loosening on me. After waiting for a day, I tested them and they felt quite secure, so I am happy that they worked as intended.
In particular, I like this product because it has …
1) a built-in applicator on the bottle (Very convenient and works well.)
2) a reasonable price (Some competitors’ #222 thread lockers are unreasonably priced, IMO.)
3) the freshness / long usable life (I purchased it in December 2023, and the printed expiration date shows Oct 2025, giving me close to 2 years during which to use.)
A minor annoyance to me, a non-German speaker, is that everything on the product label, as well as the usage information on the seller’s Amazon web page, are currently in German, even though it’s being sold on the Amazon US website. (I needed to use Google translate + Google Lens to understand some of them.) But considering this is a widely used and understood industry standard product, I don’t consider it to be a serious enough issue to deduct a star for.
Overall I am very satisfied with this product, so I am rating it 5 stars. Highly recommended.

This is the Bäder “Low Strength” (Purple) Anaerobic Threadlocker, imported from Germany, and sells at a price that will be VERY difficult to beat! As with most German-engineered products, extreme attention to detail was clearly taken to ensure an exceptionally high level of quality. This is impressive being that it is such a tremendous value as you’re getting a lot of product for a very reasonable price! Bäder Anaerobic Threadlockers are all available in 10ml and 50ml sizes with both being great deals!
You could probably make the best comparison between Bäder Anaerobic Threadlocker and Henkel’s various varieties of Locktite Threadlocker. They both use an easy to follow color code to denote product strength from low to high, for example:
• Low Strength: Both Bäder (B222) & Henkel (222) use Purple.
• Medium Strength: Both Bäder (B243) & Henkel (242, 243) use Blue.
• High Strength: Bäder uses Green (B270), however Henkel (271, 272, 277) uses Red.
There are a few other Henkel SKUs that I did not mention, but do want to touch on. This is because we see far too many varieties with the more common Henkel Locktite, therefore I only selected their most common varieties that could be used to make the most direct comparison. That said, Henkel Locktite has on variety for bolts up to a certain diameter and another variety for bolts that exceed that diameter. Henkel Locktite generally has one variety that’s oil resistant, yet another that is not and will require a cleaning to remove the oil before applying. Henkel Locktite has varieties for MIL-Spec, CFIA, high temperature, ultra high temperature, etc.! It could just get confusing!
On the other hand, Bäder makes it extremely easy with just one variety for each strength with them all being generally okay to use even when applying to a slightly oily or dirty surface (cleaning first is always strongly recommended). All of the Bäder Threadlocker products are temperature resistant from -55°C (-67°F) up to 180°C (356°F) and are 100% waterproof. You will need to go with Henkel if anything hotter is a concern, but this is more than adequate for most uses. So, Bäder seems to make an excellent general purpose product and a single bottle could save you from having to purchase various bottles of a competing product.
One of the interesting points that I wanted to mention is how Bäder paid a lot of attention to detail to the bottles themselves as the caps are designed to be “dosing caps” and ensure an easy and stepless adjustment while working as a lid. This is why I believe that the small amount of fluid that some people are seeing in the cap is by design and is simply part of the delivery system. The 50ml size even has “dosing bellows” that will ensure less waste along with an easier application. The pointed tops on both sizes will also allow for either screw or blind-hole application, however it looks as if the 10ml size may be better suited for blind-hole application.
As for my own experience, there’s not a lot to say other than a moderate amount of product did exactly what it was supposed to do. I did initially clean the surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and gave it about 20 minutes to set post-application. The resulting bond seemed adequate.
Ultimately, this is an excellent general purpose threadlocker that I would highly recommend for both its quality and value! I have already tried other strengths and couldn’t be happier with the Bäder brand!

If you want a sturdy hold, use the medium duty stuff, like Loktite blue.

I was surprised to see this low strength threadlocker appeared to list all of its specifications in German. If you bother to scroll down the page you will find that all of the pertinent information is also given in English. Whereas it was odd that German was at the top and English below, at least you knew exactly what you were getting.
Or Not! It seems that many users of threadlocker do not understand what the word ‘Anaerobic’ means.
Just in case you don’t know, here we go; Anaerobic’ means ‘In the absence of oxygen’.
The liquid in this bottle remains liquid in the PRESENCE of oxygen.
When you put it on screw threads and insert the screw, the liquid will turn into a solid in the ABSENCE of oxygen.
If you receive a new bottle, and it is full, the liquid would turn solid in a few days.
If you receive a new bottle and it is ½ full, or a third full, it will remain a liquid for years.
I was reading through the reviews and I noticed several that marked down the number of stars awarded because the customer believed that Amazon was selling them a used or defective or leaking product.
I find that incredibly sad, especially when the seller donates an entire panel to explain why the bottle is shipped half full. Or half empty depending on your point of view.
