These pictures are after one time mowing! I put in everything this kit came with. Both new bushings ( the top one is a pain). The kit shows a new nut to go on the steering shaft under the gear, which mine was missing, and I needed. Order the more expensive oem part from John Deere!

I mowed my lawn four or five times with this pinion gear. I’ve left a picture of it with this review. It must be soft metal.

This set of parts are of very poor quality, placed them on my mower and they didn’t last 6 weeks until the pivot gear was stripped out again. Parts were greased and installed properly, I’ve replaced them 3 times in the past but with different providers and they lasted for about 1 year. will not purchase from this supplier again.

These gears seem to be both hit and miss in regards to quality/hardness as well as very particular with how they’re installed so I can’t fault the seller that the gear stripped on the first turn.
