Steering gears are a huge problem on John Deere 100 series tractors. I have replaced over a dozen so far. Sometimes you can get these aftermarket and they last 15 cuts or so. This is by far the worst I ever used. It failed into the second mow. Its didn’t just loose a tooth, the whole thing got eaten up. Absolute garbage. Do not buy these gears folks unless you like changing them every couple mows.

    Fits perfect

    Replaced flimsy gear. Works perfect

  4. A. Neal

    Installed easly and works fine.

I dislike the metal it made of and it is easy to install, money spent was fine but it failed after two hours

Absolute garbage, lasted one month. Very soft metal, Chinese crap. DO NOT BUY. Waist of time and money.

I had done a bit of work on my 2005 JD L111 this year, and the steering pinion was a bit worn, so I decided to change it. Within a month, the teeth had sheered off from turning the wheel to it’s extremes. Mind you, I’ve driven the mower on the original pinion for 14 years and about 350 hours with just minor wear. This replacement broke teeth almost immediately with the same type of use. Luckily, I didn’t throw away the original, and It’s back on the job. I would not recommend this product to anybody

This product has zero durability installed it and got maybe 15-20 minutes before it was stripped completely…
