Thieves siphon the tank. This stops then like a mofo. It’s righteous.

With #1 home heating kerosene at $6 and change a gallon I added this lock. Yes I know it can be defeated by a pipe wrench on the nipple. I look at it as a speed bump to my oil. Along with a chain across the driveway, motion lights and a security camera. The Sheriff’s dept last month here arrested a guy who had a tank /pump on his pickup truck, and was dressed like an service guy and was pulling up to 50 gallons from people’s tank at a time before a homeowner who felt like the oil company shorted him checked his driveway camera and got a good picture of the guy. Case closed with an arrest. Hints, read the directions carefully on how the lock works. With the key nub in the 6 o’clock position Tighten the cap more then snug but not tight and use a strap wrench and not a pipe wrench. Turn the key nub to 12 o’clock. I then gave the cap a snug more tightening. It’s now locked. I applied a bit of silicone lube to the gasket and a drop of WD 40 in the lock cylinder to prevent water and snow melt to help from freezing the lock and cap. Then placed and old coffee can over the lock to keep the lock dry and help prevent freezing .

I put this on my tank. Works great. After having over $1500.00 of furnace oil stolen from me last fall, I was finally able to get this cap. Screw it on tight, turn the key and it spins freely. Hopefully my delivery guy will use it correctly.

This lock is very heavy duty, and really works well. I have the quick fill type of tank fill pipe, and the unit fits perfectly. It took me a minute to figure out which way to turn the key to lock and unlock the cap because when locked, the cap spins freely (it just won’t unscrew). I completely disagree with the person who said that the lock did not work, and that all you had to do was push down and wiggle and the cap would unscrew. When I read that review I went out and tried, and there was no way that it was going to just unscrew, no matter how hard I pushed or wiggled it while turning. It just kept spinning, but would not unscrew. He probably did not fully seat the cap before trying to unscrew it.
A locking cap is not a fool-proof method for keeping people out of your oil tank because there are always pipe wrenches and hacksaws. But this cap makes your oil tank much less thief-friendly. It can also keep the oil delivery company from topping off your tank when you don’t want it topped off.
Great customer service, they called before shipping to make sure what type of oil fill cap we had.

I received my heating oil tank lock today, and I am very impressed by the design and engineering that went into it. It is seriously heavy duty; industrial quality. The locking mechanism has a very positive action. The inside of the cap has a gasket to seal the cap to the filler pipe. All aspects of its manufacture are of the highest standard and it works perfectly. Great value. This lock should deter thieves and vandals, and protect my property. In buying the Heating Oil Tank Lock, I feel that I have exercised due diligence to button up a hole in my home security. Thanks to Flow Security Systems for providing this product.

Outstanding product! I purchased this to prevent unwanted delivery of heating oil at my home because I have been dealing with a very dishonest oil delivery company.
Despite telling them numerous times that I don’t want oil delivered, they show up at odd hours of the day, fill my tank without telling meand then leave a bill for $1000 in my mailbox.
This will solve the problem and it works perfectly as advertised! It is also very sturdy and clearly well made.

Easy to install. Seems to work nice. Hopefully it can’t be pryed off with a wrench by someone.
