This is my review of the TagVault keychain for Apple AirTags. I just bought the 4-pack to replace some toolless AirTag keychain holders that are exposed on both sides. My issue with those was that the cover popped off the AirTag itself and I didn’t notice (fortunately a friend did). Anyway I decided to give these a try and just through the process of installing them, I’m quite pleased (for the grand total of one hour I’ve had them so far).
They seem to be solidly built. The AirTag only fits in them one way, so it’s snug once the case is assembled. There are 4 torx bit screws for each holder, and the kit comes with the right size allen key. The screws had some blue thread lock compound on them too.
There is a nice looking gasket that probably makes them at least somewhat water resistant. I don’t feel like testing their water proof claim, so I can’t say anything about that.
They come with a small ring, but it’s too small to attach more than a house key to, so I removed it and used my regular keyring instead.
And they’re cost effective, especially in the 4 pack!
My only suggestion would be to include an extra screw in the package. These things are tiny for my large hands, and it would be very easy to lose one.
Bottom line, I bought these so that I wouldn’t lose the plastic cover off my AirTags, and they do the job on that front.

This is the original and it works great. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but I tried one once and all four screws broke out. Not much to say here, except that it does the job well and was easy to start using it.
I do wish there was a different way to attach it to a key fob. This metal spring is OK but they’re always a pain to use and look kind of cheap. I don’t want a carabiner since that’s way too big.

After several other similar holders failed me – either because of a cheap build quality or a cheap connector holding it on my key ring, but this is great! It holds solidly and the tag works perfectly all the time.

Rugged and not too bulky. Great way keep your AirTag on your key ring with worry.

Great product, easy to use, and high quality, so far.

Bought these for dogs in Michigan winter and holding up great. Easy to throw air tag in there and water restistant. Reminder not PROOF….but my Weimaraner’s don’t like water anyway and would never need waterproof. Great buy, came fast and easy to use!
Outlook –
The keychain feels rugged and well-built, which is a big plus. The plastic material seems durable and doesn’t appear to interfere with the AirTag’s range for locating items. However, I’ve noticed a reduction in the sound range, making it a little harder to locate the AirTag in noisy or distant environments. If sound is a critical feature for you, this might be a drawback, but for general use, it gets the job done.

I haven’t had the chance to test the durability or waterproofing of the TagVault yet, but it looks and feels very durable. I got the TagVault so that I could put an AirTag on the my boat’s keys that I seem to always lose or forget to bring with me to the lake. It’s an hour and a half drive from my house to the marina I store the boat at so if I forget the boat keys the day is pretty much ruined. Initially I was looking for an AirTag key chain case that was both waterproof and could float (yes I have dropped boat keys in the water). That search came up empty so I decided to just focus on finding one that was waterproof and adding a floatation device to the keychain.
Pros:
– Great protection.
– Waterproof (haven’t tested other than running it under a faucet)
– Sturdy construction. It’s screwed together with 4 screws.
Cons:
– Sound from the AirTag is muffled. I had my boat key AirTag in a backpack that was about 15’ away from me and couldn’t hear the sound from the AirTag. I tried it with my car key AirTag which is in a different case and had no issues hearing it. When my boat key AirTag was outside the backpack I could hear it while about 20’ from it. I don’t necessarily view this as a con for this specific product though. The AirTag’s sound is going to be muffled by any good case that is waterproof. I had zero issues using the on screen guidance (in the Find My app) to find my boat key AirTag with the TagVault on it.
– While it’s nice that Elevation Labs includes a tool for the screws it’s as frustrating to use (if not more) than the tools Ikea provides with their furniture. I tried using it for all of 5 seconds before I threw it away and got out my own mini screw driver with a T6 bit attached. If I didn’t have my own screw driver I’m not sure I would have been able to reattach the screws without getting frustrated and throwing the TagVault away. Elevation should ditch the Allen wrench like design and just provide a normal mini T6 screwdriver or even just a T6 bit.
