My father’s Acura MDX’s power steering pump was making a whining sound as well as a leaky power steering line. I got the line from Honda since the leaky one lasted nearly 200k, but despite its whining, I didn’t feel like the power steering pump itself was bad. Since Honda doesn’t sell a power steering pump rebuild kit, I decided to purchase this kit at a fraction of the cost of a pump. Upon opening the pump, I noticed that all the main o-rings were squished, deformed, and the rubber no longer held a round profile after nearly 20 years of usage and heat. Enter this kit with the help of a manual for torque specs and the everything went perfectly. It’s been about 8 months without a single leak or whine and i’m happy that after spending 14 bucks on this kit, I was right in that my original oem power steering pump was still mechanically good! I bet yours is too! I will be picking up another kit for my mother’s Honda Odyssey (same motor), given the milage is around the same, her pump has not started to whine yet.
