Definitely keep somebody from messing with your gas!
I have this installed on my 2006 F150. I had trouble with someone siphoning my gas .
I purchased this for security as well as, I needed a new gas cap. This Served both purposes exceptionally well.
It took several fill ups before I mastered how to unlock it and remove it! But once a had practice, it’s extremely easy to operate.
It’s giving me a great amount of security knowing my gas tank And its contents cannot be tampered with.
It seems to be well-made, comes with two keys for both sets of your keys, no error codes on my dash, and after several months of use I’m still very happy with it.

Good product, but sometimes jams when i go to remove it. I bought this for my Ford motorhome, it fits well, the lock works just fine, but it appears that the threads get stuck after i’ve been driving- so now i use my regular gas cap when in motion. I am going to apply a sm amount of lubricant to see if that helps. And i am still using this locking cap when parked, without any problems.

First off, I don’t know what people are talking about with the “install” of this product. You simply screw it on in place of your old cap. It comes with it’s own rubber seal ring, there literally is nothing to install or modify or anything. Instructions would help, the box comes without any instructions and tells you to go to the stant website for install instructions which you cannot find anywhere. I had to google “stant locking gas cap instructions” to find the link buried within their website. Between amazon and stant’s website I was totally confused on how or if I needed to do any special procedures to “install” the cap. The web instructions just say to screw it on the gas hole in place of the old one. However people on amazon where saying “installation was difficult” and saying you needed 2 screwdrivers and all this, or that you had to stretch rings and what not, it was really confusing and would have been nice to just have a brief instruction come with the box.
Secondly, I used this on my ’93 Nissan Pickup D10. I picked the correct model from the drop down, but the cap that came does not fit my truck until I had to modify it with a pair of toenail clippers. You can see in the picture there is extra plastic connected to the screw threads that literally blocks you from being able to screw it in. I took a pair of toenail clippers and clipped off all the extra plastic leaving only the threads and it screwed right in and now works perfectly. This was on the Stant 10510 model.
The way the thing works is without the key you cannot turn the cap counter clockwise to unscrew it. It just spins freely without the key. You must have the key to lock the mechanism allowing it to be turned. All in all, 3/5 stars.

Using this on my 2007 Ford mustang coupe and it works. It clicks fine but feels a bit stiffer. Once you put the gas cap in you have to turn the lock to the right and then pull the key out.(while holding the gas cap to prevent it from spinning) It’s not a normal lock where you turn it to lock then put it back to the normal position to take out the key. This threw me off for a good 5 minutes lol. But once it’s locked and you try to remove it, the cap just spins freely so there is no way to remove it and so far only used it for less than a week but I’ll update if I missed anything or it fails too soon.
Side note: they sell universal fuel cap tethers but haven’t tried yet. (Saw some people say they don’t exist when they do)

This gas cap is OK but this is really hard to get off of the car. Every time I go to the gas station people have trouble getting it off my car. I did an organ for a tenant Hass to get it off the car. The last time I got gas I sit there for 30 minutes and get it off my car. I don’t know if there’s a solution to that one maybe come out there I don’t know. I have to have a locking gas cap because I keep getting my guest stolen because of her where I have to park my car.

I saw the bad reviews, but even the Ford originals had bad reviews. Figured I would give it a go, and if not then Amazon would take it back. Time will tell if it lasts, but so far it’s working well and no more stolen gas @ $4 a gallon. This thing will pay for itself pretty quickly. I am sure it’s easily defeatable, but I dont want to make it easy on them.
How to use it (at lease in my case)
1. The serial number on the key will be on the same side as the serial number on the cylinder. It would have been nice if these had been keyed so that it went in either way, but alas it does not work that way. At least knowing this you can go in knowing its correctly orientated.
2. Unlock, then immediately lock, then unscrew the gas cap. Keys do not need to be in it once you have unlocked and relocked it.
3. Put it back in and screw it tight, its already locked so no need to lock it again
Knowing this should make the whole thing a lot easier to use.

Idk if i got a defective one or they sent me the wrong key but the lock mechanism is jammed I bought the stant brand because it was made in America 🇺🇸 and they made quality products but now it says made in Mexico and it doesn’t work shockingly lol
