Was having a little trouble with the 1998 truck. Now it is back to running great.

Exactly what i needed for my 97 dodge ram cummins 12 valve. Had no issues during installation and my truck runs perfectly good again with no trouble codes. (have had the product for half a year now)

I bought this brand of this item because Standard Motor Parts is a long standing American company, and was known for top quality. This TP sensor was bought for a 1995 Dodge 2500 diesel pickup on June 28, 2019. It was installed in October 2019. The truck was driven for 2000 miles between October 2019, and the first of June this year. Truck had shifting problems with the trans—finally took it to a good local trans shop, and they tested and found the problem with the shifts was due to this item—it was defective –not within range electrically to properly control the signal to trans as to when to shift. The shop reinstalled my old one, which I had kept for some reason—and truck shifts perfectly now. I believe I should get my money back on this, is the warranty on Standard parts is lifetime to original purchaser with most parts stores who sell this product. I would be happy with a credit to my Amazon account, and will return defective item in its original box to Amazon, as directed and if needed. Thanks.

Ordered one before this one and it was wrong. This is the true original part.

First sensor fixed my problem, a month later, the truck started shifting wrong again. Tested the TPS with a voltmeter, tested bad. Ordered another one, installed it, now it’s working fine again. So I ended up paying double the price since you can’t get a warranty thru Amazon.

I was having issues with the torque converter on my 1995 12 valve Cummins (auto transmission) kicking out of overdrive at inopportune times (mountain passes) and during general highway driving. It was like my truck was hiccuping and definitely super annoying as my RPMs would shoot up for a couple of seconds and I would lose all of my torque. After consulting with my mechanic, he suggested my transmission would need to be replaced. However, after much internet research and chatting with my neighbor across the street who drives a 24 valve, it was suggested I start with the throttle position sensor. Pays to know your neighbors and do your research. After replacing my TPS, all of my torque converter issues were rectified, and I can happily take mountain passes with full torque and NO HICCUPING.
It’s very easy to install yourself, but check for tutorials on the web. The electronics in my stock TPS seemed to be ok (according to voltmeter) but there was a lot of play in the slot that sits on the throttle and mechanically twists the mechanism in the TPS. I’m assuming it was this play that allowed for an incorrect signal to be sent to my PCM which in turn sent the wrong message to the automatic transmission for shifting and torque converter engagement. Its important to use a voltmeter to determine you have your idle and full-open throttle (FOT) settings dialed-in with the ignition key turned on but without the engine running (radio on). There’s a spring in the dial in TPS and when you install the TPS you kind of have to twist it into the correct position with the spring somewhat loaded. I started with the tps at like a 9-11 oclock position and twisted it to like a 2-3 oclock position so that the mounting holes and screw holes were lined up and my voltmeter showed the correct voltages for idle and FOT while the mechanism inside the TPS was somewhat loaded. It will make more sense once you watch a tutorial or begin installing it.
Bottom line: my 255,000 mile truck lives on!!
