1. Didn’t come with any wiring installation instructions.
however, It is not hard to figure out.
White wire with green stripe
White wire with red stripe
Black wire connect to Stud on Bell housing
2. Heat shrink tubing that goes over (Nut & Bolt) wire connection could have a longer secondary piece to make it water tight.
Other than that, it performed well.

Worked for a 1990 Mercruiser 5.7L V8 engine. The original had screw posts for wires that came from ground and Thunderbolt IV system. However, this one comes with leads with bullets and a ring for ground. I simply cut all off and coupled them together with tap connectors. Worked great!
Annoyed Customer –
Went through diagnostic checkout on a Thunderbolt V ignition for a 2004 Bayliner 215 Classic. Checkout pointed to a sensor failure. Replaced with this one and fixed the problem. Nice fit inside of distributor body and all electronics are potted (sealed) which is an improvement over the previous sensor.
Jeanine Brosch –
Tracked this sensor down as the issue in my no spark situation on my Mercruiser Thunderbolt ignition. Pretty much plug and play on my 2004 Bayliner 215BR. One extra ground wire needed to be attached, other sensor was 2 wire only. Beware there is a nut on the bottom of one of the posts attaching a ground wire that needs to be taken off before you can unscrew the old sensor. Started right up after install!

Bought this for my distributor on my boat works very well electronic Condition

When the engine would get warmed up good, it would start running ruff and missing.
This sensor worked like a charm! It’s all plug and play. It bolts right in place, and the wires are color matching red/white, green/white, and black ground.
Patrick –
Part was exactly the same just had a ground wire my other one didn’t. I just bolted the ground to the engine no problems. Works great.

2001 Mercruiser 5.0 Thunderbolt V. Stopped running and wouldn’t start due to no spark. Merc manual led to Ignition Sensor failure and local marina didn’t have the part. Sierra installed in minutes and boat started up instantly. Like other reviewers said, this is an updated part. Original only had two wires, no ground. This fit existing wire plugs perfectly and has an added ground that easily reached the grounding bolt on the back of the engine. This part looks superior and seems to be sealed much better than original.
