This siphon hose works exactly as they said it would! I placed the copper siphon end into a 6 gallon portable marine fuel tank and shook the siphon end up and down about a dozen times and the gas began to flow quickly to another holding tank which I had placed about four feet below the tank that I was siphoning. The whole process took about 5 minutes to drain the 5 or so gallons of gas left in the fuel tank. I would put a small hose clamp on the hose just above the copper siphon end if you are going to siphon a liquid from something where you could not retrieve the siphon end if it came off while shaking it up and down to start the siphon flow.

Everyone should have this in their trunk. No spill no mess. Just have the gas can above the cars gas tank. Stick the metal end I the gas can and stroke it up and down in the gas can untill you see the fuel flow solidly through the hose. Put the metal part of the hose at the lowest point of the gas can but just off the bottom. The gas needs room to flow.

Bought this to put gas in my boat. Trying to fill a boat that’s in the water with a traditional gas can is a mess – gas almost always ends up in the water. With this you just stick the hose in the fill tube, put the brass end in the gas can and jiggle it until the gas flows clear. It takes about 2-3 minutes to empty a 5 gallon can. The gas can has to be higher than the fill tube for it to siphon. The only drawback is that the tubing is a bit stiff initially and retains it’s curve when putting it in the gas can. If you leave it in the sun it softens up and straightens out OK. After that it works great – no mess at all – not even a single drop gets in the water or anywhere else.

The Siphon hose did not come with any directions how to make it work. I researched online to understand how it was supposed to work, but couldn’t make it happen. Was trying to siphon gas out of my motorhome which will be parked all winter to use up in my pickup truck. Due to anti-siphon spring in the gas tube, I disconnected the rubber tubing down by the tank so I could put the hose fitting into the tank, did lots of jiggling, but couldn’t get more than 10 inches into the hose. Gave up and decided to see if I could make it work in my above ground pool which needed a few inches drained to winterize it and thought I might have better success because I would be able to see the jiggler end. Sadly, I still could not get more than about 10 inches and could not get it to go up and over the edge of the pool. Gave up and have since ordered a siphon hose with a pump on it, that did not cost much more than this one.

This product works okay but I can never get a strong flow of water coming out Plus I had a hard time keeping it from curling back up to its package position. I probably would not buy another one if this one wears out
