I used this a number of times, it worked fine, then moved to a new place with limited room in my carport, barely enough room for a vehicle. To make a long story short, when using the battery charger I began viewing it from directly above. When you do this it appears that the “bad battery” light is lit (the upper light on the right, when attempting to charge the battery). I assumed the battery was bad and replaced it.
The 2nd time this happened (recently) it occurred to me to lift the charger and look at it directly from the front, and found that the 2ND light down on the right, the regular “on” light, was the one actually lit, and the light from IT was spilling over to the one above it, and when looking at it from above appeared to be the only one lit! I may well have replaced a battery that didn’t need replacing.
Incidentally, after leaving the charger on for two consecutive nights for a total of about 16 hours the lights never changed from amber to green as it said in the owner’s manual. Malfunctioning or not, I’m not sure, but the car starts right up, I’ve driven it for several days (long distances), and placed it on the charger again to check, same thing, amber lights. It would probably be ideal to check the charge with a multimeter but I haven’t used one in years, my bad, but the battery seems fine. If that turns out not to be the case I’ll update this review.

The unit is a bit bulkier than I expected, but it does the job that I needed it for.

Works great as described… would buy again

Top quality and functionality in a reasonably portable, durable charger. Charges at multiple rates, boosts, and vehicle starts with ease. Great pricing with very fast shipping! Highly recommended!

It has a great trickle charger. Don’t expect it to be a battery maintainer. It turns off after the battery is charged.
Krys –
Very easy to use.

Purchased two years ago and had not used until the other day when it was used to charge a friend’s battery. Charged OK but friend reported that it did not automatically turn off and go to green as I told him it should.
I then tested with my car battery which is only one year old and has never needed manual charging. Monitored by connecting external ammeter and taking periodic photos to understand what the charger was doing but was still not satisfied that I understood whether the charger was defective or just not working as advertised.
1) The indicating lights are very poor as you have to look straight at them to tell which one(s) are on.
2) There is no ammeter so, even as an electrical engineer, I couldn’t tell what the charger was doing.
3) Does not auto-switch from 10-amp mode to Charge / Maintain (6 -2 amp) mode when fully charged.
4) Limited charging current to 1.5 amp in “Charge-Maintain (2-6 amp mode)” and falsely reported that battery cables were reversed or battery was bad. (See two Photos)
5) Does not auto-switch from Charge/Maintain to 10-amp mode when I turned the headlights on bright.
6) In 10-amp mode, limits charging current to about 7 amps even though battery draw is higher.
Called tech support on March 16, 2021 and Jennifer escalated call to a higher level of tech support. However, went back to voice mail jungle to another entry level support agent who again escalated. I was then on hold for 60 minutes before my call was automatically disconnected, without talking to anyone, at 4:12 pm CST even though tech support hours didn’t end until 4:30 CST Mon-Fri instead of 5 pm as stated in manual.
I will never know whether this charger is defective or just poorly designed.

So I got this battery charger for my old Cadillac, wouldn’t start, darn it, trickle won’t work.
Got this thing, hooker up for 24 hours, Cadillac starts like nothing. It’s worth what you pay for it, want something with all the bells and whistles, you gonna pay 3x more…. but if you’re not using one all the time, this is more than good enough. Will last a long time, I’ve no doubt.
That said, for me, was a reminder to check up on Michael Shumacher the race car driver…. hope he gets better and recover, sooner than later.

I recently purchased the Schumacher SC1305 Battery Charger, Engine Starter, Boost Maintainer, and Auto Desulfator, and it has been a game-changer for maintaining my vehicle’s battery. The multifunctionality and ease of use of this device have made it an indispensable tool in my garage.
The first aspect of the SC1305 that caught my attention was its versatility. It’s not just a battery charger; it’s a comprehensive battery maintenance system. The ability to charge, start engines, maintain battery health, and even desulfate batteries makes this device incredibly valuable. I’ve used it on multiple vehicles, and its performance has been consistently impressive.
The engine start feature is particularly noteworthy. It’s powerful enough to jump-start my car with ease, saving me the hassle and expense of calling for roadside assistance. This feature alone makes the SC1305 a must-have for any car owner, especially during colder months when battery issues are more common.
Another significant benefit is the auto desulfator function. It helps in extending the life of my batteries, ensuring they remain in good health for longer periods. This is not just cost-effective but also gives me peace of mind, knowing that my vehicle’s battery is being properly cared for.
The user interface is intuitive and user-friendly. Even if you’re not particularly tech-savvy, you’ll find the SC1305 easy to operate. The clear instructions and straightforward controls make the process of charging or jump-starting a battery hassle-free.
Furthermore, the build quality of the SC1305 is robust. It feels durable and well-made, designed to withstand the rigors of regular use in a garage environment. This durability is essential for a device that is often used in demanding situations.
In conclusion, the Schumacher SC1305 has been an excellent addition to my automotive tools. Its multifunctionality, reliability, and ease of use make it a standout product. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a comprehensive battery maintenance solution. It’s a worthwhile investment that delivers on its promises and provides peace of mind when it comes to vehicle battery maintenance.
