Bought this repair kit to fix my mother-in-law’s 2013 Chevy Sonic’s gear shifter. Took a chance on this third-party manufacturer as the cost was CONSIDERABLY cheaper. What a deal!
Comes with everything you need (except the rubber nib that is on the broken lever) You simply pull that rubber nib out of the old part and install it in the new lever. Kit comes with replacements for ALL other parts (new chromed button, the black & less brittle lever, new spring, locking pin, & the two shifter covers) Depending on how gingerly you remove the wrap around cover & the handle cover, you might not need to replace these parts, same goes for the locking pin. However I suggest you use the NEW spring as the old one seems to have enough wear on it to warrant the new one.
Takes about 30 minutes to complete the repair. Compared all the new parts with the OEM ones and the construction and materials seem as good or BETTER than the originals.
I believe that the lever breaks due to the brittle plastic used in the original part. The replacement separates the Chrome Button from the LEVER in order to have a longer lasting part whereas the original was all the same grade of plastic that shatters at the locking pin joint prematurely.
Anyway, don’t spend the extra on the official GM part… this one is PERFECT!

I watched some videos on how to do the repair and this kit was good. My trigger button was actually falling out before the repair. I really struggled to get the new silver trim on but my old trim popped right into place so I’m using that. Maybe the size is slightly off.

Not too difficult to replace. One of the mounting tabs broke trying to get it back together but doesn’t seem to affect replacement.

Pretty easy to figure out, fixed all my issues

I never leave product reviews, but I think this is important and informative for those who are in the same situation. I have a Chevy sonic 2013. The button on my shifter kept getting caught and I would have to wait until it popped back out or until I could somehow pull it out for me to take my car key out of the ignition. I took it to the dealership, and to no surprise, they said it would cost $800 (for a button?!) because they would have to replace the whole shifter. Clearly that was a big red flag for me. So I got on YouTube and was led here to buy this product, and sure enough, I spent less than $10 and 30 minutes to replace it myself. 100% worth it, works perfect.

Material de buena calidad, costó un poco de trabajo instalarlo y se debe hacer con cuidado de no romper las piezas, pero una vez puesto funciona de maravilla, recomendado👍

Excellent replacement part. Took about 20 minutes to install. Much cheaper then getting the part from GM and it worked just as well.
