This is my first-ever product review, over the years since I’ve been a shopper on Amazon. My advice is: DO NOT BUY this product because it does not work, as expected & as advertised/ described under the product information. I purchased this product last August but just got around to installing it this March – 2025. It worked only once after installing it. Tested it the following day as I got to work and tried to disengage the relay using the remote control, it failed to disengage. After work, I picked my daughter up from school & as we headed home on a busy road, the car suddenly & unexpectedly lost all power & died at the stop light in the middle of traffic which I believed exposed us to grave danger of being hit from behind. Luckily, I managed to remove the relay and & was able to reconnect the cable directly to the battery terminal which allowed me to start the car and continue home. The device has not worked again since then. That whole ordeal was precarious & scary to say the least! Just a word to the wise!!

Mech said it would cost at least $100 to identify the leak that was drawing down the battery on our old Jeep, and it might cost hundreds more to actually fix it.
This did the job, and it took about five minutes to install. Works perfectly. BONUS: adds a level of security!

I had a huge problem: something was draining my car’s battery even when the car was off. I took it to the dealership who said it would cost between a few hundred and $1000 to fix as they’d have to go through each individual part to determine what was draining the battery. In the meantime, I’m having to unhook my battery every time I shut my car off and hook it back up when I had to go anywhere, which is in the trunk, so I couldn’t even close my trunk as opening it required battery power. Can you imagine what a hassle every trip to work, the store, and everywhere else was?! Then I found this device. My mechanic installed it for less than $100 and now I only have to use the fob to turn my battery off and on. No more dead battery, open trunk, or dirty hands from working on a car before work. It was easy to install and it’s still working after months of use. Huge problem solver!

Received tonight and installed on my 2010 Toyota Highlander limited. My negative battery cable did not want to fit very well onto this device due to the Angles and the short nature of these newer generation wires. Had to modify by bending the factory negative cable and connector about 30° in order to make it configure. The reason I only give it three stars is because of usage on my particular vehicle. Although it does work as designed I believe this to be an extremely poor idea as used for a parasitic drain or a security measure on your newer generation vehicle. Consider that every time you disconnect your negative lead on your battery, your vehicles ECM computer is going to reset. I don’t care at all about the factory clock or radio settings but in the Highlander specifically, when you go to restart the vehicle after reconnecting it will crank over and start for about 1 second and then die every single time. On the second button press it will start and stay running every single time however the computer has reset completely and this is very hard on a car’s ECM computer. I will not swear that it is going to jeopardize the ECM computer long-term but it is definitely not good on it. Additionally, your car’s fuel economy may suffer as well if your ECM requires constant 12 volt power to remember shift points in the transmission as well as other components needing to reset every time the battery is disconnected.

If your intention is to only use this to rectify and unsolvable parasitic battery drain occasionally while you are on a long trip or if your vehicle sits for long. The time between use then I would suggest that it is fine. However I would not use this as an everyday device turn it on and off everyday or even multiple times per day..

My sons Jeep has a slow drain somewhere, in his electrical system and if his battery is hooked up, and he doesn’t drive for a few days, it will drain his battery to the point where we have to jump it. It’s not a big deal. Jeeps have been known for having glitchy electrical that can do odd things, and it’s a pain to diagnose the problem. He doesn’t want to pay a bunch of money on it because it’s older, and his first car, so we just disconnected the battery cable after driving if we weren’t using it again for a while. My brother suggested I get a manual switch to make the process easier. While looking up the manual switch, I came across this one. This seemed like a much better option, as he will no longer have to pop the hood every time to connect/disconnect. Installation was easy. The instructions are a bit vague, but anyone with basic car knowledge will be ok. It comes with 2 remotes, so we just push the button to disconnect the battery, and when we go to drive, push the other button. We don’t have to mess with any wires, use tool, or pop the hood when we need to drive now, just push button and we are good to go. I gave a 4 because there was a copper piece that didn’t have any instructions for it, the red wire is a bit flimsy, and the device feels like it could have been made a little more durable. The price was right though.

I had a problem with parasitic drain on my battery on my Dodge Journey. My friend is a mechanic who works for Mercedes Benz and he couldn’t find the problem so he suggested a battery kill switch. He installed it and it works great.

The main problem I found is that the instructions weren’t really clear. My friend, a mechanic figured it out quickly, but again, the instructions are obviously translated to english, so a bit difficult. Also, it was a tough install since the actual battery is just above the wheel well and out of site on the Journey.

This unit comes with 2 remotes, a real bonus, but the instructions show 3 different ways they can be programmed to operate. I found that very confusing and unnecessary. The good thing, is that they come programmed so no need to reprogram. Press ‘OFF’ and the battery disconnects. Press ‘ON’ and the battery connects. Easy Peasy.

The added bonus is that this unit can be used as a battery kill switch to protect your vehicle from being stolen because when activated, the car will not start.

The only CON to this is that when you disconnect the battery, you lose the time on the clock. I can live with that. The radio stations remain intact, which is good.
