This is a true synthetic oil brand, not semi-synthetic like those big brand names. My engine has been running smoother and I went crosscountry from CA to SC and my 20 year old Mercedes didn’t burn a drop of this. The color is also not dark. 3k miles so far and anticipating on putting another 7k before I change it.

The car this is used in is a Mercedes CLK430, which factory dictates I need a 0w40. In the summer, it’s hot and don’t need the 0w weight oil, so I’m only concerned with the 40w. Immediately after changing the oil over to this, the car ran smoother and cooler. It so smooth at times I had to look at the tech to make sure it was running. I’ve used AMSOIL, Royal Purple, Mobil1 HM 10w40, Shell 5w40 synthetic, and nothing ran as well as Redline.

Best Group V ployol Ester based oil you can buy. Very shear stable and packed with ZDDP. It is said RedLine uses Lubrizol for their additive package, one of the best in the business! Personally I’ve used RedLine for over 15 years with excellent results. Engine internals are CLEAN and very little in the way of wear. Plus they are located in Benicia California! Love supporting a boutique American made oil. Their tech support is second to none as well, very friendly and helpful.

It’s expensive. But- it is one of the highest specification oils obtainable, and is definately to be considered if a person owns an older car that they want to take care of the best they can. This and other ester-based oils are not to be confused with the big name “synthetic” oils that start out as petroleum and then manipulated into qualifying as synthetic. Ester-based synthetics are the real deal.

The only true synthetic oil available. This stuff is a bit pricey but well worth it. While living in Europe I had a C class Mercedes and developed a sticking lifter. I put up with it for awhile and then changed to oil with Red Line. The ticking noise went away instantly and never returned.

Really a fantastic oil for turbo applications. The Subaru literally cooks lesser oils. Extended drains are possible, but I usually change at the 3500-mile mark on both cars due to the boost. I’ve noticed a smoother idle. I run 5w30 in the Winter (Lake Tahoe) and 5w40 the rest of the year. I also love Motul 300V, but like the additives in the Red Line.
