This car mount did come with instructions for installation. Although the instructions were poorly translated to English, the pictures helped a lot. The instructions show how to install on both a thin rear view mirror and a thick one. It also has measurements on there for how much space you need behind your mirror to actually install it. This info is also on the product page so PLEASE LOOK AT THE PRODUCT PAGE TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ENOUGH ROOM to install this.
Now lets talk about the build.
The clamp that goes on your mirror is all made out of metal excepting a couple parts. This should increase the durability and longevity of this product. This product replaced a similar one I had until recently that was made almost entirely of plastic. The plastic phone mount failed after about a year of constant use, and broke in several places.
The grippers hold onto my rear view mirror firmly. There is very little wiggle to the base even if my quite heavy phone is mounted on the arm that was being held at an angle. My previous plastic car mount shook quite a lot.
The grippers themselves are made of metal and there is a channel where metal teeth hold the grippers in place. You can extend the grippers to fit thicker mirrors. I’m not sure if the other teeth on the grippers themselves are made of metal or not, but the paint in the channel got scratched when I adjusted them so I’m assuming all metal there.
The friction between these teeth are the only thing keeping the arms in place so hopefully they hold well if I drive over a bumpy road.
Most of the other nobs to adjust the phone mount are also made of metal. The base of the grippers use a ball socket type adjustment, where tightening the knob on the back will add friction to the arms preventing lateral movement.
The arm itself has two metal adjustment knobs. The one controlling the angle of the arm (left and right) uses interlocking metal teeth. There was very little wiggle when it was tightened. The height adjustment “elbow” on the arm uses friction to hold it in place. This is also another possible point of failure.
The phone holder itself seems to be the only piece made of plastic. There is a collar on the back that holds onto the metal ball from the arm. Tightening this collar adds friction to the ball which tightens the holder to the arm, but still lets you adjust the angle and rotation. I wasn’t able to get it tight enough to stop movement completely.
The phone holder has sides that are angled inward which will prevent your phone from falling out unless the whole thing is turned upside down. This is a great improvement compared to other phone mounts because other ones I’ve had are quite shallow and my thicker phone fell out a few times. There is a button on the side that slowly opens the arms of the holder to let you take your phone out.
In summary: I will need to use this phone mount for a while to see if it does hold up well. It looks very promising with (almost) all metal construction, but some metal parts may not be able to bend or flex without breaking like plastic can. I will need to update this review after extensive use.

This smartphone holder works well. It fits onto your mirror and allows you to have a clear line of sight at your phone while driving. It also allows you to keep the phone close at hand should you need to take a call hands free. The holder is sturdy and well built. Once positioned, it stays in place.it is easy to install and is a good value for the money. The only downside to this holder is that it prevents you from having a clear field of vision while looking out the front windshield. It is a minimal obstruction of sight, but it must be considered. Other than that issue, the holder does its job. The phone can also be rotated from landscape to portrait view with ease.

This is one tough phone mount. This thing is solid aluminum and super easy to install. Took less than 5 minutes of adjusting and it was ready to go. The large thumb screws make adjustments easy while the spring clamp mechanism ensures a really secure grip. I did opt to reuse my magsafe mount instead of the included grip mount but the included mount would work just fine. 10/10 highly recommended product. ***Double check the clearance behind your mirror though. It’s not a slim mount by any means.**

While the build quality is decent, I found it challenging to fit this device to four different rearview mirrors on two cars and two trucks. The clamp remains loose and doesn’t secure properly, causing it to fall off repeatedly. Additionally, its placement is too far out of reach especially for tall drivers im 5’11”, making it impractical if you need frequent touching your phone, though it does work well for map display. Depending on your phone, it can also create a significant blind spot. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend it.

After buying phone holders for my car from discount stores and having them last a month or two without much success, I got 3 different holders from Amazon to test which ones will really hold up and perform the way I want it to.
Two holders had suction based attachments, and one attached to the rear view mirror.
This is the rear view one, and gets 4 stars from me 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 , but may be a 5 star for you!
This one is made of a metal alloy that is probably aluminum based. Its built to appear very durable, and may be so, but time is the judge of this.
First off, this phone holder will not work on some vehicles. I wanted to install it on my 2008 impala, but the rear view mirror is just to big to accommodate the mount. The installation instructions are very clear with this, and it should be heeded. If you have any extras built into your mirror like auto dim high beam, or cameras, this probably won’t work for you.
Instead I put it in a Chrysler minivan I have, and it works well. I love the exceptional adjustability, with it being usable by either driver or front passenger, and angle-abel for numerous situations. All of the pivot points are secured with hand tightening bolts, making it relatively stable. The phone cradle is made of plastic, but the ball attachment is metal, connecting to the plastic phone holder, but I haven’t had issues with the ball socket, so I believe it will be much more durable than an all plastic pivot point.
So, why the 4 stars and not 5?
I love that this is not made of plastic! I like that the crab claw style, spring loaded clamp holds firmly to my rear view mirror but…
The assembly as a whole is lightweight, but still relatively heavy, especially when you have a phone on the end of this long lever. Simple physics dictates that you will get some wobble, and worse, moving my rear view mirror to a point of constant adjustment. This may be manageable by adjusting the mirror tension, but I’m not going to those lengths to make this perfect for me. That said, this may be a 5 star for you?
