Excellent replacement for OEM filter. One thing to be aware of is that the threaded center adaptor can remain behind when existing filter is removed. There was a brief moment of, “this is the wrong filter” before I realized what was going on. Once I removed the old adaptor from the engine block, the new one dropped right in.

I’ve been using this filter for over a decade on my 2002 VW Golf and it has always been very reliable. I do miss when the outer coating was gritty, which made gripping way easier, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that it is an effective product.

I’ll continue to Subscribe & Save this filter for my VW over the China made Continental oil filter I previously purchased.
Some may not care about the following… but this filter is installed on top of the engine and the text / logo printed on the filter are upside down on the Continental brand. Not so with this Purolator.
