Installation on 2017 Ford Escape is perhaps the worst process ever created (I’d rather take out the glovebox or take apart the cowl) and the thickness of this filter makes it more difficult to crush and wedge the filter into the cavity, but it fits after enough cursing. High quality filter, but due to the increased thickness of the filter media there is a noticeable impact to the airflow through the HVAC system – just something to consider, one of the trade-offs of activated carbon, polyphenol, and better filter media.

The product was of high quality. Though product itself is easy to install, the procedures that Ford gave for this model, is very difficult. I had to take to dealer for installation and even they had issues. Make sure filter is installed with correct air flow direction. Otherwise it fit correctly.

The price was right for me compared to others. I gave it 4 stars because it doesn’t have the frebreeze smell. It’s a very pain is the ass to install also. But it’s not the filter it’s the car manufacturer that designed it.

While this filter is certainly heavier and sturdier than the OEM Motorcraft filter, it didn’t seem to inhibit airflow, though it is slightly more difficult to install in Ford vehicles (Escape & Focus). My primary issue with the filter is that it doesn’t do the first thing advertised on the packaging and that’s “block and control odors” which is why I made the decision to purchase this over OEM. Exhaust fumes, smoke and animal odors (skunk) pass though this filter just as strongly as they do the cheaper OEM filter. I’ve verified the filter is fully seated and installed in the correct orientation. Also, not that I needed them, but the installation instructions that came with the filter are grossly incorrect for the application this is probably most used for and would have an inexperienced person disassembling half their car trying to figure out where this filter is. So, if you’re a DIY’er with car maintenance, save yourself a few bucks and some hassle and just get an OEM Motorcraft filter.
