I wasnt sure what was glued to the fins. Apparently it is a prefilter and you leave it on there? Its like a thin cloth that covers the fins. I took it off since its just glued on. and i did not want to restrict the flow too much. Fits the equinox good i had.

This Purolator A36131 engine air filter worked perfectly on my 2010 Chevy Equinox with the 2.4L engine. Note that as of 6/24/2024, the Amazonconfirmedfit says it does NOT fit the 2010 Equinox, but the Purolator website/application guide site says it does, so I took a chance that the Amazonconfirmedfit database was in error…and it was. This fit perfectly in my car. Be sure to press it in on all sides (easy) so it rests properly in the air filter box before screwing it shut. This is a very good two stage air filter with a soft down-like “prefilter” followed by paper media with lots of folds. This filter was slightly taller/thicker than the filter I replaced, so the filter itself has more filter media than some cheaper brands. A good purchase.
