The A-premium Hood Bonnet Lift Support Shock Strut Replacement for my Hyundai Sonata 2006 fit perfectly. I closed the hood after putting it on and lift it just a little bit and the strong arm lift the hood with no problem. I check the local auto parts store for a strong arm and they wanted $40 so, this is a Great value at around $21.

I totally over-thought the install process, but once I figured out what I was doing wrong, install was unbelievably easy. Simply pop open the clips on the new strut’s top and bottom…find a stick or pole or something to hold up the hood…pop the clips open on your car’s strut and remove it from the ball joints at both ends…install the new one and pop the clips back closed. The strut is VERY strong compared to our worn OEM one that wouldn’t hold the hood up anymore. The hood does take some additional strength to close it right now, but I expect the heat in the engine bay will fix that over time. Overall, this is a total no-brainer. If your hood doesn’t stay up anymore, what are you waiting for?

Super easy to install. As others said, the piston opens up the trunk a bit too forcefully, but at least there’s no worry of it closing on you. To install, take the old ones off by slightly prying the cuffs at the head of each end by working a small flathead screwdriver under the cuff and pulling the socket away from the joint. Install the new ones by orienting them in the same manner (thick end attached to trunk lid on Hyundai Sonata 2009) and pressing each head on with both thumbs (one end pivots in place easily, the other end unscrews) Done.
Will update my review if it fails within a year or two.

I ordered these to replace broken trunk struts in my mom’s 2009 Hyundai Sonata. Removed the broken struts with a flathead screwdriver, then popped these into place. Took all of 5-10 minutes. Easy peasy.

For being a woman I did this myself the instructions are very simple and very easy to input. I did both of them within 15 minutes maybe less. I’m so glad I bought this I’ve been having a broken trunk for the past year LOL this is amazing and it works so good

I wish I’d looked this up sooner, been riding with broken pistons for over a year assuming they’d be expensive. Nah, less than twenty bucks and five minutes to replace.
The only hard part was pulling the remaining clip off my old ones, you can see how busted it was in the picture with the new one installed. You really have to pry with a flathead screwdriver to get the tension clip open to pop the old off.
Once they’re off though, the new ones snap in as is with zero need to mess with the clips. Just push them on and they’ll pop onto the ball socket. One thing to note, the clips might arrive both facing the same direction. Just pop one side on and carefully use a pliers to twist the other end clockwise to turn it until the socket turns. You don’t want to turn it counter-clockwise as that starts to unscrew and loosen it just FYI.
Once they’re on the trunk works good, actually snaps open at the full extension a bit but closes without issue. If you’re like me and just sat on trying to fix your old rotted trunk pistons definitely get these and enjoy the cheap easy fix that requires like one screwdriver and maybe a pliers and zero mechanics.
