This is a very nicely constructed oil filter. In fact, it is better made than the genuine Lexus/Toyota filter. Please see the photo I included. The A-Premium filter is the more yellow one on the the left, the OEM filter is the more orange one on the right. It came from a Lexus dealership so there is no chance of it being counterfeit.
It has more pleats and those pleats are uniformly spaced, especially where both haves of the filter element are joined. The OEM filter has gaps where the two halves are joined, not the A-Premium. They are the same diameter and overall height, but the filtering media is 1/16″ taller on the OEM.
The A-Premium fits the factory canister without issue.
There are two critical aspects to an oil filter I can’t test or rate. One is filtering ability. While the filter is very nicely made and the listing claims it to use a semi-synthetic media with 99% efficiency, I have no way of testing that. The listing does not tell tell you what size particle it is filtering at 99%. Another important thing to know is flow rates. A super efficient filter is not doing you any good if it impedes the flow of oil too much. I can’t test that, either.
I would love to see A-Premium have those tests performed as the filter is otherwise so nicely constructed. I hasten to add I have no reason to believe this filter restricts flow too much or is not efficiently filtering smaller particles, I simply don’t know.
I change my oil/filter at 5000 miles and will update at that point.

This oil filter is rated for UP TO 10,000 miles (16,093 km’s) but not beyond the vehicle manufactures recommended replacement interval, that means that this oil filter is NOT for extended oil change intervals and must be replaced as often as the OEM oil filter. A-Premium claims that this oil filter is 99% efficient, I don’t have the technology to verify that, but it’s a mighty claim. The other very important factor is the micron rating, A-Premium does not disclose this vital piece of information, I normally only use 20-21 micron oil filers. A-Premium claims that the filter media is a synthetic blend. I ordered this filter for a 2012 Toyota Matrix.
I really like that the filter arrived in a totally sealed box to ensure that there was no dust contamination or damage during shipping and included both O-rings. Inside the box the filter is also sealed in plastic as well as the O-rings. The filter itself seems to be well made and is quite solid. The seals on the ends seem to be good for a filter at this price point, the filter must seal perfectly for a high efficiency rating. Overall I think that this filter is good and is priced properly at $15.99, however I haven’t had enough time to see what it looks like at the end of it’s life, I will update this review at that time if necessary.
