I purchased this to replace my cigarette lighter in my 2003 Ford ZX2 and it works perfectly. I had it installed and it looks stock. Matches my interior perfectly! I love that there are not only two USB ports, but that one charges devices at a more relaxed speed and the second one is a supercharged port charging my iPhone in a fraction of the time it usually takes.

This product works well in my 2010 Nissan Xterra. I will post pictures later. It was not difficult for me to install, it did not require any extra trimming to fit into the existing hole on the dash, and it fit so snug that it’s not even really necessary to screw in the back piece to hold it in place. It takes a little force to push into place, but it fits perfect. Just make sure that it is lined up exactly how you want it with the plugs level and everything before you start to push it in because it is a bit of a pain to pull back out in order to line back up because it is such a tight fit. You are also able to remove the rubber cover on the front if you want, and I chose to do exactly that. It fits so perfect in the 2010 Nissan Xterra that it looks completely stock. Be aware that if you choose to not use the front cover/lid/cap (whatever you want to call it), there will be a blue light visible 24/7 whether the vehicle is on or off. One additional thing to be aware of is that, unlike the stock cigarette lighter socket, this plug does not turn off when the vehicle is turned off. Anything that you have plugged in will still be receiving power while the vehicle is off. I personally like this because I only use the plug for my phone, and I want to be to have the option to charge my phone while the vehicle is turned off. So, for me, this is a good thing. On the other hand, if you use this for powering a GPS that stays in your vehicle 24/7, you will most likely need to unplug the GPS every time that you turn the vehicle off.
Warning to any other Xterra owners. I was unable to locate any directions online for removing the stock socket. So, although I said this product was easy to install, it was NOT easy for me to remove the stock socket. I ended up being able to pull it out eventually, but is was not easy. I definitely recommend having a plastic pry tool that is made for working on car dashes and consoles in order to prevent scratches on the plastic. The tool I bought on Amazon is called a Car Audio Dash Removal Plastic Pry Tool.

I gave this unit 4 stars because the blue LED is entirely too bright. Tone it down, guys… this ain’t a disco. Otherwise, its a great product. Other posters have talked about the need to tie the Data+ and Data- pins together to enable charging – not sure where they get this from. The pins are already tied on the board. (Hint: use a DMM to verify.) Incidentally, you can overcome the obnoxiously bright blue LED by sliding the back plate and internal circuit board out, flipping it over and sliding it back in. You can still see the blue light in there, but it’ll be significantly muted. I used this with a DROK buck voltage regular to drop my Ryobi One+ 18V lip tool battery down to a 14 volt input current (most vehicle alternators output 14.4 volts). The result is a fast, portable charge for camping use. One last thing – the build quality is excellent. The housing is made from a good ABS plastic.

I love this outlet, except it would be nice if it was the same size as the cig lighter outlet it is replacing. Its not a big deal to enlarge the existing hole, with a file or the like but a direct fit would be so much nicer. Maybe we will see one with the implementation of more USB Type C connectors.
They claim it outputs 2.1A on the bottom plug, but after test charging multiple items, at various charge states, i could never get it to output anything over 1 amp. That being said, i have had no problem charging my iPhone 6 plus while in use on my street glide.
If you want the rubber cover to drop down when uncovering the outlets, rather than having to lift it up out of the way, and have the markings on the face read properly that is impossible if you want the cover to properly line up when closed.
Other than these few concerns, the outlet has performed well. I have washed my street glide multiple times, just using the rubber cover to protect the usb outlets and havent had any issues with water penetration. Overall very happy, but subtracted 2 stars for the concerns i covered.

I have ordered a total of eight of these now and will be ordering more.
For starters, they come packaged well in a sturdy little box. Inside you will find the USB charger in a bag with two crimp on female connectors. The back of the charger is plainly marked + and – for easy wiring. I personally have installed four of these in place of cigarette lighters in dash and console (does anybody even use factory lighters anymore?) of 3 different vehicles and 1 in a Polaris ATV and three of them in our 5th wheel camper. They are super easy to install in existing lighter mount as they are spot on in size. Just pull the lighter assy out, find the positive and negative wire feeding it and cut the connector off. Crimp the included connectors on and plug in. The included nut holds it snug in place and when done looks like a factory option. Started using these 2 years ago now and have had zero issues. This is a quality product for a great price!

Installed this in my 04 Honda VFR. Used a metal step up bit to make a hole in the black inner fairing cover right by the left handle bar. Installed a magnetic cell phone holder in the triple tree hole and use a short cord to constantly charge my phone when Im riding my bike. I like that I can cover it up when its raining with the attached cap. The nut that comes with it hasnt loosened up one bit after the initial install . I recommend wiring in a little fuse close to the battery just in case. People have seen this on my bike and say that it looks great on there almost factory. Charges my phone good and havent had any issues with it so far.
