My Mazda 3 is equipped with a built-in CD player. I’ve used the first generation of magnetic phone holders and they work for smaller phones such as the iPhone 5/6/7/8. However, the newer iPhones XR or 11+ are larger and fall off if you drive over a bumpy road. I decided to try out this Pop-tech with the newer MagSafe magnetic ring. My phone case has a built-in MagSafe and this works perfectly!
The magnetic force is very strong where you need two hands to remove the phone from the Pop-tech universal mount. From this point alone, it can securely handle larger phones such as the iPhone 8 Plus or newer Max iPhones with no issues.
The Pop-tech CD slot mechanism is well made and will not damage your CD slot. It also comes with instructions, wet wipes, template, and 2x MagSafe rings so you can retro fit your phone if your phone case does not already have the MagSafe ring feature like mine.
Overall, this is a great product to firmly secure your phone in your vehicle for quick and easy mounting and removal.

Was exactly what I hoped it’d be. I just updated my phone to an iPhone 16 and because of that, my previous car phone holder needed to be updated, too. Finally, after going through two holders that unfortunately weren’t as described and wouldn’t work, I bought this one. Have literally only used it for a day but I am so excited and relieved that this one will work perfectly. It feels secure, takes up less ‘real estate,’ and can pivot so you can adjust the phone screen however you need. So glad I gave this a try!

Works well. Easy to install. It’s not a problem if you don’t use your main screen, because if the CD holder is directly above the car’s screen, it will be in the way of the top third of your screen. Otherwise, it’s one of the best CD Holder mount phone holders.

A great solution for cars with CD players. If it doesn’t fit one way, you have the option to flip it upside down so you can adjust it the best way for your car’s dash. We have two cars and like having the flexibility and easy of removal and installation of this smartphone mount.
The MagSafe magnet is strong and can hold my iPhone 14 Pro without any problem. If it is too weak, you can consider installing the included ring if your smartphone doesn’t include a magnetic ring, or perhaps is a large heavier device like the Pro Max models and may need reinforcement for the magnet to work.
Ever so often, the mount may tilt especially when removing or mounting our phones. The mount may also need retightening over time due to vibration. But not a big deal as all the previous models we’ve used in our household also behaves the same way.

The convenience of the CD slot placement is a major plus. For those of us with older vehicles, or those who simply don’t utilize their CD player, it’s a perfect use of otherwise wasted space. My only slight reservation is that as newer cars phase out CD players, the long-term usability of this type of mount might be limited. However, for the time being, it’s a fantastic solution that I highly recommend.
