I have a 1974 BMW 2002 Tii with the original distributor. The # 1843 is the correct kit for my car. Installation is straightforward; the only problem I experienced was that the pole piece that fits over the distributor center shaft is very tight. I had to use a socket that fit over the distributor center shaft and gently tap the pole piece on with a hammer
Chrissy –
fácil instalación, tenía mis dudas sobre si funcionaría con una Nissan pick up pero al parecer trabaja sin problemas y el motor mejoro su funcionamiento, ahora la cuestión es ver su durabilidad

Works great! I now have two cars that use the Pertronix ignitor and I couldn’t be more satisfied. It probably takes less than 10 minutes to install.

I researched this for hours to come up up with the right kit to fit my bosch distributor off the PerTronix site. It was the same kit all people who Bobcat owners upgrade their ford industrial 1.6 liter engines bosch distributors. It was the only one on the PerTronix site that even came close from the pictures. And I watch Youtube videos that install the same 1843 kit on the exact same distributor!
It fit the spot… that was about it.
The set detent held the coil too far away from the rotating magnet… over 1/4″. And the rotating magnet didn’t sit all the way down to not interfere with the rotor. And yes, I matched the flats up with the magnet, cleaned the shaft and even but a light film of grease on the shaft.
Well the magnet ring cracked. Laughably it fit fine after that!
It was a blizzard outside so I needed to get it running to plow us out. I ended up putting UV cured super glue on the cracked magnet (that fit once it broke). I then had to move the assembly arm out of the detent location to get it to the proper air gap of 10 to 50 thousands.
It still didn’t work. I am an electrical engineer and tried to test the assembly with everything in the right locations. It didn’t pull the coil to ground at all, let alone release it to produce the spark. And no, I didn’t burn up the coil. I had a momentary switch rigged up for the power to the ignition. I have burned up points on equipment before by leaving the key on with the point engaged.
Pertronix obviously has fit issues with this model in saying that it fits all bosch distributors between 1952 and 1977. It obviously doesn’t and they have no other kit that even comes close.
So I have a $109 piece of junk I can’t return because it is broken and probably never worked to begin with!
So in the end, I had to spend an hour fixing the old point set… and it started right up! It is a hell of a way to fix your old ignition to try and install an electronic one!
la calidad en si no es mala pero si viene bastante recortado sin importar que talla seas compra un número más grande en mi caso soy 27 me tocó comprarlo en 28 –
1/2 hour and good to go. . Started right up first try. Didn’t even have to adjust timing. Good price too!
