    This was purchased for my 1978 Scout II 345 with Prestolite distributor. I didn’t see instructions in the package I received… as it turns out, none were needed! I simply dropped in the parts replacing the old ones, and put the distributor right back where it came from. Everything just worked. No calibration, no gapping, no diddling. Of course this assumes you know the basics of removing and re-installing the distributor. My old girl had some new pep in her step now and the ignition faults (due to a deteriorating e-module) are now a thing of the past. Do exercise caution after you have installed this unit, the ignition cannot be left in the “on” position while the engine is NOT running. Most of us don’t do this anyway, but it is easy to forget when we hand over our vehicle to have brakes or other maintenance performed by a shop. You may want to tape a note to the dash as a reminder – worst case scenario it can literally melt down both the coil and this module. Don’t. Forget. Also, if you have the CA model you will want to be aware that while your original unit has 3 wires, this replacement only has 2. This is ok and yes there is a CARB number for this unit so it is legit to use. The 3rd wire (white) is simply tucked somewhere out of the way. It was for a rpm sensor of some kind, not supported.

    UPDATE Spring 2018 – After nearly 2 years this is still working great in my ’78 Scout – Would buy again!

    1980 scout,304 motor I did not read instructions,what ever you,only use the distributor ground wire,if you use with additional
    external grd,it won’t start,you will scratch your head on that one,

    this is a big improvment over points and or earley en
    lectornic setups. starts way better cold and idle went up with no timing change . spark plugs turned brown within 100 miles perfect so far
