I’ve been using this car battery charger for a few weeks now, and it’s been great overall. It’s easy to use, charges quickly, and has worked perfectly on my car battery each time. The build quality feels solid, and the display is clear, so I always know the charge status. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that I wish it had a longer cable for more flexibility when positioning the charger. Other than that, it’s been a reliable tool, and I’m happy with my purchase.

For anyone that does not know by now, NEVER USE AN OLDER BATTERY CHARGER ON A AGM BATTERY. I’ve lost hundreds of dollars on someone putting an older battery charger on my AGM battery and destroying it. I’ve had to take my vehicle into a couple of shops that do work on vehicles that I don’t do myself. I even wrote a message and warned them not to a charger that is not made for an AGM battery only to come back and try to start my vehicle and find out my battery was fried. I found out when they came out with a 100 amp charger and told me, “Oh yeah, we left lights (or some electrical device) on and had to use this to start it. Your battery must be defective since it started to make Snaping and crackling sound when we hooked it up”. Now if I Have to let someone else touch my vehicles, I have to put in one of my flooded acid batteries in since they aren’t able to read.

I have a one year old group 35 yellow top battery in my Subaru STI. The car sits for a few days sometimes so I want to make sure the battery stays topped off. I purchased this thinking it must work since it’s from Optima and designed for AGM batteries but when I come out to my car, my battery tests at less than 200 CCA @ 12V(the battery is a year old and is rated at 600CCA). After several attempts, I went back to using my $20 auto charger which works ok and hopefully won’t damage the battery because it is not designed specifically for AGM batteries. I missed the Amazon return window so now I’m stuck with this useless charger and I’m out $100.

Well, it turns out I needed a new battery, but this was a great charger anyway. Didn’t build up heat while charging. Extend your battery life in cars you don’t drive every day by allowing it to trickle charge. The cord length should be long enough to reach anywhere in a garage and the indicator lights will let you know the status of your charging from a distance. Great value from a solid company.
