Many people do not know that Modern day cars have tons of electronics that get reset when you remove or change your battery this little gadget prevents that from that from happening. All you do is plug it into the OBD2 port And connect it to an external power source while changing your battery So you don’t have to Reset your radio stations. Or in modern cars Reset other options such as lane keeping assist, or auto brake features.If you constantly disconnect your battery Or are looking for storing it long-term I would highly suggest getting one of these tools, this is the OG and every mechanic should have one, granted the instructions were written in Chinglish but using it is self explanatory.

works well and shows current and volts , but this one came with a 15 amp fuse and on my vehicle it should be a 5 amp fuse so i changed it out.

It can serve as a battery backup to save vehicle settings AND as a current draw gauge.
Connect a 12 V battery when the car is off and watch current drops to 30MA. You could even disconnect the main battery terminals and power thru the tool. Cars can take up to an hour to fully “sleep.” If it is high, start disconecting things, including the alternator. Pull fuses. Sometimes you may have to leave the door open because fuses can be in a tricky area. In that case you may have to remove a bulb if the car can’t shut them down.

This is a useful device to have on hand any time you have a need to disconnect your vehicles battery. In addition to radio stations, there are myriad numbers of things modern cars save to volatile memory, from transmission shift points to display screen brightness. There are display lights to indicate whether current is flowing, but the instructions are a little difficult to understand. Also, having a good 12V battery on hand is a requirement. However, this is all worth the effort in order to preserve more memory settings that your car has but you may not know about.
