When I cut off my muffler and made a custom cold air intake for my cooper, I also swapped to NGK plugs and coils. They installed easily, connections and seal are firm but easy to remove for spark plug changes. No issues with timing or misfiring or anything else.

After 2 months of buying a package of 4 coils for my BMW 328i 2013 with the corresponding NGK laser spark plugs I can tell they are useless. My car started having issues when running above 4500rpm and it showed a misfire check when scanning, the car ended up turning off the fuel injection for the coils that failed. I changed the coils to the old ones (Delphi) and then everything worked perfectly.
The worst part of this is the customer support that basically doesn’t exist. I tried contacting Amazon directly and then hey routed me to NGK, I contacted NGK and they told me they have nothing to do with it and asked me to contact Amazon.
This was a terrible experience considering they are a “recognized” brand. Completely disappointed.

My BOSCH ignition coil for my Beemer 328i were starting to fail at around 90K miles. I replaced all 6 with BOSCH OEMs purchased cheap from eBay and they were disappointing and started to give the dreaded SES light on my panel. Decided to buy these thinking that the NGK reputation would be much more reliable than the sales beyond the dealership as there were too many rebuilt BOSCH ignition coils floating the the market. These ordered came individually packaged box and each plastic-sealed inside with manufacturer manual-booklet – which makes this looking very legit. One thing very different though was that it did not have the metal sheeting body as shown in the sale listing (See my pics). Despite being a Japanese brand, these were made in China as printed on the item label on box. After installing all the NGK U5055 ignition coils in my Beemer, the engines sounded much smoother, and after getting it on the road for a couple of short trial runs, the SES engine light disappeared without a reset! Wow! Guess the Beemer’s computer did continuous testing of these induction coils and engine firing that eradicated the previous error codes. The last batch of replacement of dubious off-market BOSCH coils went just 5000 miles. Let’s see how long these will last… If none significantly better, I will update this review for sure. Stay tuned….
UPDATE (02/15/2022): Beemer now chalked up to about 150k miles without any of these coils failing. Engine light came on once during this period due to a need for spark plug change. That’s about 60k miles since 2019 on them coils with no problem.

Initially worked but misfire came back off and on.

One of these ended up smoking and took out the valvaletronic motor which was right next to it on my 2014 Bmw X5 with the N55 motor. I thought NGK would be good but only their plugs, not coils. Mechanics wasted a lot of time to try to diagnose $4K because the only codes were valvtronic motor short to earth as well as injectors short to earth was permanent fault. Started smoking again when they opened the door and finally sniff test brought them to the coil packs (NGK). Do NOT Buy.
