I installed this throttle position sensor in my 2003 Mercury marauder 4.6 approximately 45 days ago. Started showing symptoms of failure after about 30 days. Thought it might’ve been a fluke – the engine revved up on its own for some reason. This morning it failed entirely while I was on the interstate highway. The engine began to accelerate uncontrollably without my foot on the pedal and I was unable to stop it. I had to turn the key and shut car off while driving at highway speeds to stop the acceleration. I managed to get my hazard lights on and move across lanes to the side of the road. I tried to start the car twice while on the side of the road, each time the engine revved to redline immediately and I had to shut it down right away. I got out of the car, opened the hood, and unplugged the throttle position sensor. Got back in the car – problem fixed. Now I need to buy a new throttle position sensor – and I won’t be getting this budget part again. I cannot emphasize enough – this sensor almost cost me my life this morning, and possibly the lives of other people on the highway. My advice is that you do not buy it

Returned item for refund. Contacted help desk. After reiterating the question several times to tech on ph. I got the answer to my question. The part I ordered was correct the part sent was not. I will order it again at the request of the help desk operator and see if the right one comes this time.

It didnt solve the issue. Quality part, bad design for replacement area. Right against firewall. Have to use stubby philips head to get out.
