Perfect fit and now my Subaru runs awesome again. Much needed maintenance and this part made the difference. Hope it does not fail on me but so far it runs like a rabbit once more.

I changed this part to fix one of a few stuttering car resolutions. This product looked the same when I installed it, but afterwards I. Could adjust the idle to a low enough setting; engine races. If I did install it wrong will update the review.

Mechanically, the TPS fits exactly like the old part. However, out of the box, when I felt the rotation friction of the old TPS versus the new one, there was noticeably more friction in the new one but the return spring was able to get the TPS back to the mechanical stop, so I figured it should be fine.

Unfortunately, after about a week of use, we started noticing that the engine idle on my Subaru would occasionally stay very high (1200 to 3000 rpm) on the freeway after putting the shifter in neutral. If I tapped the throttle, the idle would immediately drop to normal. This would only occur after the car was fully warmed up. I checked the voltage on the TPS output when it was stuck at an elevated idle and measured about 700mV on the output when it’s supposed to be 500mV. This makes the IAC valve open, hence the high idle.

I removed the TPS from the car when it was at operating temperature and noticed that what felt like friction when the TPS was new and at room temperature, now felt more like sticking when it was warm. The old TPS does not stick and is smooth. I put the old TPS back in the car and this strange idle behavior has gone away.

I don’t know if I received a defective TPS but its behavior makes it completely unusable. The worst part is this malfunction took a week to show up and only intermittently when the car was at operating temperature and I had been cruising at one throttle position for at least 10 seconds. It took me several hours to diagnose this new TPS to be the malfunctioning part.
