    Worked perfect. Went to my local locksmith had key cut. Then out in parking lot I programmed it to unlock/lock doors. Will not start your bmw. So with 5 minutes of research. I found a $70. Key programmer online. 4 days later I received via FedEx. Took a few minutes and my car now starts with this key also. I have a 2001 325i touring model. I also purchased a bmw logo key sticker for center lock button. Tip: I used a dab of glue in back of sticker. Looks like a factor key. Will be buying two more keys.

    I received the key this afternoon.(placed order 3 days previous) I ordered this key with the intent to use it as a replacement to lock and unlock the doors and to pop the trunk on a 2001 BMW e46 (325i) . I have not looked into having it cut and programmed to start the vehicle. It took less than 60 seconds to pair the key with my vehicle. An unexpected bonus: my central locking button on the console now works reliably. I can also use the car alarm again, too. The key fob is of good quality. the only thing negative I can say at this point is that I wish the key came with a roundell with BMW logo, like some other reviewers said they received. ( i will have to purchase separately for a few dollars less than what I paid for the key.)

    syncing this key was very simple.

    I got in the car, making sure all 4 doors were locked.
    I then put the old key in the ignition, turned it to accessory position and back 5 times in rapid succession;
    then depressed the door unlock button and continued to hold it down while i took key out of ignition.
    while continuing to hold the lock button in the depressed position, I pressed the center button 3 times, holding for a 1 count each time.
    On the 3rd release of the lock button the door locks popped up and then back down.
    I then, immediately took the new key, depressed the unlock button and held it while depressing the lock button (round center button) 3 times, holding for a 1 count each time.
    On the 3rd release of lock button the door locks popped up and then back down, again.
    to complete the process I inserted original key in ignition and turned to accessory position and back one time, then removed the key from the ignition completing the syncing process for both keys.

    Great product. I was able to program it on the first try in my 2001 E46 325ci.

    Here are the steps I’ve done to program it (you need a key that can start the car).

    1) Get in the car and close all the doors (don’t have to lock it).
    2) Insert the working key in the ignition and turn to Ignition 2 and quickly turn it off and take the key out (it’s not necessary for working key to have wireless transceiver working, just as long as it can unlock the car).
    3) On the uncut key, hold the UNLOCK button and quickly press the LOCK button 3 times
    4) If everything was successful, the doors should lock and unlock indicating programming was successful.

    Worked as advertised. If the dealership or someone tells you they can’t cut and program these they’re lying. Only con is that they open entirely too easily and don’t have a gasket.

    When unlocking my 2002 530i one click unlocks all four doors at the same time, whereas the original key allowed me to either unlock the driver’s door with one push of the button or unlock all four doors with a second push of the open button. This is why I’m rating this key 4 stars. It works flawlessly when unlocking the trunk.

    In addition, the key I received included a BMW roundel sticker, which was an unexpected surprise. I’d definitely recommend to a friend.

    I opened the package, went out to the car, and programmed the lock as you would with the native opener. The locks cycled as they should and, it worked from the house 40′ away as well! I would like to see this unit made just as a key fob without the blade as an option, but cutting the blade off with a Dremel is no problem. I only say this because I have a working key with a transponder, but the locks (despite a good battery) will not cooperate, and the cost of cutting a BMW key is just stupid for what it is. I’ll probably buy another for the other key. Good value.

    Not sure if I received a defective transponder or something. The chip is programmed and works to start the car but the remote for keyless entry will not pair with the vehicle no matter how many times I try the initialization procedure. Very disappointed as that was one of the main reasons I purchased this product.
