The only difficulty is removing the retaining ring on the gear shaft and installing the new one.
I bent the old ring getting it off the shaft, then lost the new one when it slipped during installation and launched off into never never land so I bent the original back to shape and installed it. It is not a typical snap ring so none of my snap ring pliers were any help. If you can get the ring off, replacing the gear is nothing, old one slides off and the new one slides on.

If you can figure out the ring thing, the gear is much cheaper than a new starter motor.

This part worked perfect for my Tecumseh engine snow blower The hard part is going to be getting the little piece of metal off the starter that holds the gears in place there’s videos online where you don’t have to buy that expensive tool on how to get this piece of metal off and then put it back on you stretch it out and then squeeze it on with a pair pliers that is the only hard part
it worked great once I got it all back together the starter has never worked so smooth

The starter to my snow thrower working very good now thank you

The kit only included three of the six parts and it is not a 16 tooth drive. It is an 8 tooth drive and does not fit the electric starter that it says it does.

Had to have a friend with special pliers to remove the old one. Installed easy.

I ordered this kit along with a separate gear from the same company I figured I’d have an extra just in case. I started with the separate gear. I did notice the gear was slightly shorter than the original but the listing clearly stated it fits the 37000 starter. After struggling to get it apart (w/o the $80 specialty tool) and getting it installed I found the gear wouldn’t engage with the flywheel. I tore it down again, pulled out the kit, and installed that gear along with all the new parts which came with it. It still didn’t work. I tore it down one more time and tried to shim it out with a washer the thickness of the difference, this also didn’t work. I reached out to the seller thinking maybe they had a better idea. I received a quick response telling me to return it. Well it’s almost 2 weeks past the return date so there’s no way to do that and I guess I wasted my money. Off to get a new starter elsewhere since I can’t trust if I buy one from this company it will actually fit my machine.

I was trying to repair the snowblower for next year’s season. I did a bit of research and found the repair kit for the Tecumseh starter is cheaper than buying a whole new starter. A bit of searching on You one can easily find several videos to see what is involved in the repair. Nothing too complicated for the average mechanic. The hardest part will be remove the special ring on the end. I had my son help me to remove it. He held down the special washer/retainer while I used a set of external snap ring pliers to spread the ring. He then force a small screwdriver between the ring and the shaft. He then pried slightly and the ring came right off in about a minute of work. I removed the old parts and installed the new. The videos say not to use any grease on the shaft due the cold weather use and the grease may cause binding on the shaft. We put the old ring back on the shaft as it was already spread enough to get off. I used a set of slip joint pliers to squeeze it back together and then installed in on the snowblower. It started right up like new. The only difference between the original and the kit is the gear from the kit is the length of the teeth. The kit is a tad bit shorter. I do not believe this will be any problem though. I hope this helps!
    Thanks! ✌😉👍

This little kit was perfect for my repair. The pieces are perfect in size and strength.
Great purchase at a great price.

Perfect repair kit for the electric start on the old snowblower.
Originally I was just going to get the wheel but glad I got the whole kit as you just can’t get it all apart without wrecking the old pin and spring (or at least I couldn’t).
Be prepared for patience when putting the new clip on. I’m sure there’s a trick to it, but was the most annoying part of the job for me.

    Love it
