The top nut on the starter shaft comes off and the starter spring and gear assembly comes apart within my engine. This is the second starter i have gotten from DB elec and they both have had this issue. I purchased some lock tight and placed it on the top nut and so far has fixed the problem once it happens again i will buy another starter from another company

This was a direct replacement starter for boat motor, very easy install and back on the lake

Was ridiculously easy to change, took ten minutes, and my Mercury Bigfoot 4-stroke EFI 50 Hp 2005 50ELPTEFI engine started on the first try, after being dead in the water with a dead starter motor! Pleased as punch so far!

Product installed like OEM. Everything lined up perfectly. Functions like original. Dealer quoted me $800 for OEM. While time will tell was hard to see any difference between this starter and original. I am not a mechanic but this is definitely a simple DIY project
