I have done my own oil changes for 40+ years. I also used to have a part-time job doing oil changes for fleets of trucks.
I have investigated oil filters test from multiple sources over the years, in car magazines, and now on-line.
I every test, Wix filters (NAPA Gold are Wix filters, confirmed by every test I have seen) come out near the top, generally an ‘A-‘ score.
In some tests, Brand X came out on top, while in another test, Brand X was middle of the pack, while Brand Y was on top.
But as I said, Wix ALWAYS tests very near the top. And they are always at a fair price (some other filters are as much as $20, compared to around $7 for the Wix.
So, I quit worrying and now just buy Wix/NAPA Gold filters. They are also the same brand we used in fleet maintenance many years ago, and many are still made in the USA (though some of them are now imported).
BTW, the Wix equivalent of this particular is a 51348.

I use this filter on my F150HP Yamaha 4stroke 2004 outboard as a replacement to OEM $30 filter. My boat is used exclusively in salt water and is out on the water at least weekly. I run OE oil with this filter and the engine has almost 900-hours showing on the meter. The engine sees shallow water use as well as long runs offshore. I change the oil at least once a year or as required by usage. The filter is good quality and does include an anti-drain feature allowing the filter to be removed without making a mess (the filter is mounted on the engine with the opening facing downward). The filter is about the same price as it is from the NAPA store but buying through Amazon saves me a trip and I also by the Yamaha oil at the same time. The NAPA filter and Yamaha oil usually arive within a day or two and I’ve never had an issue with the packaging.

Its a good filter, a little pricey I should have price them locally first. Other than that the only bad thing I can say is to make sure that the O-ring gasket comes off with the filter. Untill recently I have never experanced this problem with a Wix filter

Appears to be just what I was expecting. Have not installed yet but plan to do so soon.

Use in my 2015 Toyota Tacoma 4×4. Read that it is one of top rated oil filter. I believe it to be true, that’s why I use it. 👍
