I ordered this for a 1980 VW Rabbit Pickup which the web page verified that it would fit. It does not. It will not even fit inside the fuel door. I tried calling the seller and got nowhere. I tried sending a email request to their website. No response. I think they are waiting for the refund period to run out and stick me with this item. Totally poor customer service and false advertising. Avoid this brand at all cost!

Despite Amazon listing the Motorad MGC-787 Locking Fuel Cap as fitting an 86 vanagon, it unfortunately DOES NOT.
The appearance of the fuel cap nice. Its not entirely clear in the photo but it’s shiny…would be a nice touch to a vehicle. Appearance wise, it’s a twin to Stant 10857 locking fuel cap. Handling, inspecting and turning the locking mechanism it’s easily seen, mehanicallly this is not a world class fuel cap. Visually is nice but integrity gives it max 3/5 stars.

The gas cap I received looked totally different than the picture they show. It also DOES NOT fit a 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon like they claim it does. The lock and key mechanism was basically useless.

Does not fit a 1982 Volkswagen Vanagon like it said. Do yourself a favor and save time by going through a real VW dealer online

It did not fit the vehicle we ordered it for, even though it was confirmed when ordered that it would. On another note, the return was easy and not an issue.

It’s a good locking gas cap, but unfortunately it doesn’t work with the Vanagon. The area around the gas cap is recessed into the body of the vehicle. So with the Motorad cap tapering down around the edge, you can’t get a grip on it. Therefore the rating is on the quality of the cap, not that it doesn’t fit my vehicle.

Does not fit 1981 vw rabbit pickup caddy us version. Maybe of you take the fuel door off. Thing is huge in diameter. OK build.
