This product is fantastic. The previous owner of my Toyota was told by a shop it would cost her $1000 to fix the knock coming from the front drivers side suspension. I took a gamble on it and it totally paid off. I spent around $150 and it is all fixed.
I ended up replacing the sway bar end link as well as the bushing since I already had the car apart. This Quick Strut is so awesome. You literally only need to take the old one out and put the new one in. It even comes with the new mount nuts for underneath the hood. No special tools needed. No spring compressors, just basic tools. It took a little convincing to get the old one out as the car has 230k miles on it, but once out, the new one snapped in direct replacement. No slightly off mounting holes or slightly bent hardware. Monroe has done their homework and this thing couldn’t be a better fit.
This strut has fixed pretty much every problem I had with the knocking and suspension bounce. This new strut is SUPER quiet, and rides as if the car just came off the lot.
One thing I would like to point out is that the manufacturer recommends an alignment when replacing the struts. This is typically only $50 at a local shop and will make sure your not going to ruin your tires. This is 100% a project that even a beginning DIYer could accomplish. Don’t shell out money to a mechanic when you can spend under 20% of their quoted price to fix it at home.
I would completely recommend this product to anyone with a familiar knock coming from the suspension when hitting bumps or to anyone looking to upgrade the ride of their old car to a ride that I would consider to be “good as new.”

I just installed these. Everything lined up good and ride quality is back. I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with installing springs on the struts. Don’t lose the break line bolt. You will need to re-use

These are the more expensive line from Monroe but they’re really well-made and they fit perfectly. Only time will tell if they hold up as well as the 15-year-old factory ones I replaced but no complaints so far. I was able to find one as a “warehouse return” which saved quite a bit of money and it looked brand new. I find Amazon difficult to search for car parts…so I usually search on other sites and then put the part number in Amazon and then it finds it. With Prime It is hard to find better prices online because the shipping and handling on car parts tends to be so high.

Installs just like it should. No need for an alignment as there is no alternate holes or slots which would create the need for adjustment after install.

I’m no mechanic. So the first time I tried to install it took a few hours. Mainly for things like not having all the proper tools and having to run to autozone a few times. You will need a 19mm socket for the main bolts in my 2007 Toyota Corolla. Also a proper torque wrench. My old strut of 200k miles came out eventually with some maneuvering. The new strut in went in perfectly except for the sway bar. So I had to jack up the wheel well to get everything to fit. However, the second time installing on the other side I was able to get the job done in one hour. So I think the average do it yourselfer can do this installation. Still much better than paying 2 or 3 times at a repair shop to do this install. Now my ride feels great with no more bottoming out on bumps!

Bought a set (172114 & 172115) 2 years ago to correct noises that I thought were coming from my suspension. Bearing plates were faulty right out of the box. Warranty replacement parts were made in cheaper factory and the top mounting studs sheared right off. Spend slightly more and buy KYB or another higher quality brand. Monroe has gotten too cheap.
Within 2 days of installation the original noises came back, which made me suspect that replacing the struts was the wrong part to fix the noise problem. I kept the struts on since they did improve the ride slightly.
Over the next two years, I have replaced other bushings and links and have had mechanics look for other sources of the noise. It has gotten progressively worse since I installed these Monroe struts.
Finally the dealer mechanic diagnosed the noise as bad bearing plates on the quick strut assembly – which means that these were defective right out of the box 2 years ago.
Amazon tried to deny my lifetime warranty claim and referred me to the manufacturer instead. Monroe’s parent company took down my info and sent it back to Amazon, since they are actually responsible according to the warranty contract.
They replacement parts were immediately faulty as well. The Strut tower mounting studs sheared right off when torquing to only 30ft-lbs. These new struts looked like they had been now made much more cheaply in a different factory.
I have seen similar reviews of the studs breaking right off for may other users of this product.
Amazon made one of their infamous “one time exceptions” and agreed to provide a refund on my original purchase.
I was forced to re-install the 2 year old struts until I could get to Autozone.
*I ended up going to Autozone and purchasing loaded strut assemblies made by KYB. I could immediately detect a better quality of manufacturing, especially in the bearing plate which actually felt like it had some proper lubrication and preload. 2 days into driving on the KYB struts and I will never ever go back to Monroe parts again.

These were so easy to install! If you have a couple of hours and some basic tools, you can save yourself a ton of money by replacing your struts yourself. I paid around $400 for all four struts after getting estimates of $1400 – $1600 to get them replaced by a mechanic for my 03 Corolla. If you have two people it will go a lot easier, but they are simple to install and 9 months later the ride is still great.
