I’m into car audio and have fairly LG build in my 04 crown vic p71, including four LG audio batteries in The trunk ,along with the back half of a LG blow through and she was squatting bad to say the least lol, well I shopped here on Amazon and found these and the airlift 1000 airbags ,well I i beat myself up for a week before going with these , but I’m glad I did ,before my tire were resting up in the wheel well and now the rear tires set well below the well , I actually gained 5/6″ ride height in the rear and the cars handling has greatly improved in every way.

Ignore anyone who gives this shock 4 or less stars, especially the genius that cares that his shocks weren’t matching colors…
Replaced the Extreme Duty Bilstein’s that were on my 2006 CVPI with these, as their life had been beaten out of them.
1. For those of you who ask about modifying to fit: that only applies to previously AIR BAG EQUIPPED models. It is not a Police Interceptor only thing, any Panther body that didn’t have air rear suspension from the factory, will NOT require modification to fit these shocks.
2. They do not modify the STOCK height of the vehicle. They are designed to keep the stock height even as more weight is applied to the rear of the car. So like some have stated: heavy sound system batteries in the trunk, that would cause the rear to sag, would benefit from this HEAVILY if they wanted to maintain stock ride height.
3. They come in yellow and black colors, these are Monroe Shocks brand colors. The serial numbers on the shock ARE THE SAME so the color does not matter. And anyone who owns a Panther body car knows: You can’t see the shocks from anywhere but under the car. So in terms of looks, they could be painted pink with white polka dots, your homeboys won’t razz you for your choice in suspension colors…
4. Yes, these only come in singles, not a pair. They are expensive because of the load leveling feature, if you don’t plan to tow, or have heavy crap in the back of your car, you don’t need these. That being said, look at number 5…
5. Sure you don’t need them, but if you live in a city that has more potholes than Starbucks, these shocks help a TON and last a LOT longer than the normal ones I usually used. Nothing against Bilsteins, but they just couldn’t take the constant 6″ pothole abuse…

I bought a pair of Monroe Premium shocks for an 05 Lincoln Town Car, The reason I went with these shocks were was their stoutness and they were Yellow and Black and looked good, I paid 180.00 for these shocks only to discover when I got into my teardown and was ready to reassemble that one shock was yellow and the other was black. Unable to put the job on hold as this is my only vehicle I was forced to put both colors on the rear as I need my vehicle like yesterday, Truly embarressed and truly disgusted at Amazons quality control.

Nothing is more disappointing than getting a defective part for the car, especially when you only really can find out once it’s installed on the car.
I now have my car jacked up in the garage waiting for a good shock. What a bummer 😕
I’ll update this review after I install a working unit and have a chance to drive the car.
I just put in the replacement and it’s fine. The ride is very nice, and feels more confident.
4 stars instead of 5 because of the defective unit.

Overall very happy with these shocks. These felt great with stock standard springs. I installed these first then decided to also get new springs. I got the Moog CC865 Coil Spring Set which are progressive rate springs and felt a bit stiff but got use too the soft and saggy springs that where in it. After driving it a few times I can say that the ride stiffness is about a 6/10 if the regular springs where a 5/10 soft enough comfort while not sagging when towing. Overall a good bang for buck. A added plus their made in USA.
Only issues I had where (1) the rubber at bottom of shock tow helper spring moves in and out of sides just helps with quietness I think, and (2) one side of my car i had to grind off about 1/4 to 3/8 inch of the aluminum support for spring just where it made contact with frame not sure if it because mine was a civilian model or if it got slightly bent over years. If you have to do that don’t take more off then absolutely necessary. I ground mine between two of the structural support raised pieces, don’t grind right on the support pieces you can rotate it to where you need it. As the car lowers the angle will adjust some for more clearance from the frame so just don’t take off more then what you need, to get the strut installed.
