No rubbing. Maybe if I flexed it would. Otherwise it was an easy install, good bang for your Buck. My 02 WJ is stock and these are a good fit. Seems a little more bouncy, and raised up the back a little. But my previous shocks were completely blown out.

Holds the trailer MUCH more stable, and takes the “wave” out of the drive with the trailer as well.

Our WJ was bouncing off the bump stops pulling the camper, these solved that problem. Not noticeably harsh when unloaded, the ride pulling the camper is much better, no bucking or bouncing off the bump stops. These actually improved towing drastically. The jeep now sits level while towing with a tongue weight between 250-280. They are definitely in there right but no rubbing.

I’m trusting it to handle infrequent towing loads. I haven’t towed with them yet, but the ride is fine – stable without being rough; it makes the Jeep feel like new. The top of the shock is a bit wider than the OEM shock, and I’m concerned about it rubbing. The orientation of the shock is perpendicular to the lower control arm, so its’ orientation won’t rotate much while flexing. Still, I’ll be checking on it down the road to see if its wearing on the unibody. Using washers as shims didn’t help; I didn’t want to hammer the unibody frame next to it, to create more clearance.

Great for towing a camper with a wj. I put these on my 04 grand cherokee, gave about a 1″ lift unloaded. I am pulling a 08 StarCraft travlestar 21sso which weights 3900lb empty with a max gross of 5klb and toung weight of close to 600lb. With the Monroe sensa track shocks I had previously the ride was horrible with the camper, the shocks didn’t have the damping to control the bounce. With these load adjusting shocks the extra spring rate and stronger damping make the jeep ride a 100% better with no uncontrolled bounce and with the weight distribution hitch it maintains pretty close to stock ride height.
Unloaded ride is firm, but wj’s can use some support in the rear especially if you still have the stock sway bar. I prefer the ride now over the soft roll happy ride before.

Installed these on my WJ in the rear. I have 2″ coil spacers installed. Removed Rancho shocks to install these Monroe coil overs. The Monroe coil overs added an additional 1-2″ of lift to my rear end. So now I’m more like 3-4″ overall lift above stock height.
I added these Monroe coil overs, to increase the preload for towing heavy tongue weight trailers. This has been the best possible option for increased tow loads.
Surprisingly, the unloaded daily driving performance is not much stiffer. The added stiffness is actually welcomed for daily highway travel. Way less body roll and pitch. Overall more solid and planted feel under hard acceleration and fast turns.
Highly recommend these for any WJ owner with 0″-2″ of lift, and aren’t worried about adding an additional 1-2″ of lift.

Occasionally, I need load support on my 2003 Grand Cherokee. I do a lotta art festivals and pack the Jeep as full as I can get it. I replaced the springs but still, it wasn’t enough support. I got these and had my mechanic install them. Took less than an hour and less than $100. These made a huge difference and I no longer worry about tearing anything up. Now, the only weight issues I feel are the fact the Jeep’s about 800lbs heavier under load but handles great. Well, for a high center of gravity vehicle of course.
