Install wasn’t bad was able to compress with a jack, once installed it lifted the rear an inch or so. Installed on a 1986 ford ranger 4×4. The ride quality is nice, not too stiff.

Just put them on my 2006 for days ranger sport 4×4, they look awesome took two people to compress them and a lot of force. They gave the rear a noticeable raise. The shocks that came out could be compressed with just me leaning on it. These took my whole body weight to compress which I thought was awesome. I’m going to test them with hauling, but I know that they will do great I would recommend these to anyone who wants a lift without going to putting blocks or a extra leaf in the rear.

What a perfect fit. I lifted the van and this gives it the proper suspension it needs. A coil and a gas shock. It is a great option for those looking for handling performance. My cornering has improved, even though that wasn’t the intent of the purchase, it’s a great upgrade moving forward. More than 100% suggest for a OE upgrade

Good product, a huge pain to install on my 2006 Ford Ranger however. I had to have my buddy, an assortment of jacks and blocks. We had to jack the truck up by the hitch to get the suspension to fully extend and then use a jack to compress the shocks… That spring is pretty stiff and puts up a good fight. I wish they came compressed, but they come fully extended. I gave 4/5 stars just for the installation.
However my truck rides better with these then stock, the rear is a bit stiffer but that is expected since it is a coil over design. They make hauling loads more stable and actually raised the rear of my truck 1.5 inches (It’s been a few months, I’m sure it’s settled down a bit now)
Overall very happy with the product, just expect to use some muscle when installing.

Really like these awesome shocks! I put them into my 2004 Ford Ranger Edge and gained about 2 inches and a much better ride. When towing these really shine, they hold the back end up strong and it drives like there is no trailer on it now. Great shocks!
UPDATE 8/4/2017: These rear shock are still going strong and have retained the 2″ lift since install. If you tow w/ a smaller truck then give these a try…the helped my Ranger out a lot! I have off-roaded these and beat the snot out of them and they are real durable, still feel like new..

So far I have loved the ride these shocks have provided, even when I have a 16 foot flat bed trailer behind my little Ford Ranger. My little Ford Ranger now hugs the corners with ease, and experiences no body roll or drifting when going around a curve in the road at 80/85 mph if the road permits. I also do not feel any rear end sway while loaded down with 500 or so pounds in the bed. The truck also no longer looks like it has that stupid Carolina Squat, if I throw a 50 pound bag of dog food in the bed of my truck or when parked while empty. Not sure how far these shocks lifted the truck up in the rear, but everything looks like it is sitting at the proper ride hight for a truck that’s supposed to sit at the same hight as a Ford Ranger 4X4. And restores the truck to something that I can use and work like a truck is meant to be used and abused as a truck safely.

This not only helped smooth out the squishiness of the rear, but also helped with the overall load capacity. Before I threw in 2 transmissions and 2 transfer cases and my bed dropped significantly. A few days after installing these, I hauled 6 pallets; 2 or 3 of which were 5 foot long, and it might’ve moved an inch!?? I can jump on my rear bumper and it won’t hardly budge. Great Improvement! I wonder what else I can put these on…

Like others have noted. There is nothing on the shock showing it’s a Monroe brand shock. That’s disappointing, Monroe should have more pride in their product and proudly state it. The delivery box did say Monroe on it so that was comforting since I really thought it was a generic brand and I had been swindled. There is no compression strap either but I followed another posters idea of using a ratchet strap and compressing it prior to installation. That idea worked really good. The shocks themselves work very nice and I really appreciate the extra load carrying abilities. 2007 ranger 2wd. Monroe just needs to proudly state their product.
