This unit is good quality, but mine stinks, too. I figured the smell was an isolated case, but appears not to be.

This case works very good to protect my Garmin DriveSmart 51 LMT-5. It is about 1/2″ to large both length & height, but if I placed a 1/4″ sheet of foam around it, it would not slop around in the case. This is in one half of the case. I keep the power cord in the other half behind the web retainer. The case is not large enough to hold the suction window mount, but that is ok. It is a good ridged case that protect very well.

This is a very nice case with a pocket for USB cables and 2 elastic straps to help secure the GPS. It is well constructed and attractive and I am sure it would protect a GPS from most hazards. However, while it is advertised as being designed for a 5-inch GPS, the space for the device is substantially larger, especially in length. The depth of the compartment is such that the elastic straps do not provide enough tension on the GPS (Garmin Drive 50) to keep it from sliding back and forth in the case. If placed in the case with the screen facing the outside of the case the problem is even worse as the GPS is thinner towards the ends than in the middle. If placed with the screen facing the interior of the case, there could be damage to the screen from contact with the metal ends of any cables stored in the other side of the case. My solution was to wrap a short length of bubble wrap, with very small bubbles, around the GPS and then place it in the case with the screen facing the interior of the case. This added enough thickness to the GPS that the elastic straps provided sufficient tension to prevent sliding and the screen was also protected from scratching. I simply store the bubble wrap in the case when the GPS is in use. A little extra hassle, but also a little extra protection. For this reason, only 4 stars.

This case is just as advertised. The hard case protects the GPS and stores attachments, without being to bulky. It will probably outlast the GPS.

I ordered both the Amazon brand carrying case and this one. This is so far superior to the Amazon case and the others on here I can’t believe it. Fantastic case.I own about 10 name brand, $20+ cases I get at Best Buy for my photography supplies and this far exceeds their quality and for under $10. Nothing cheap about it. Quality all around. My Garmin fits inside like it was made for it. So glad to have my GPS protected and away from dust and dirt and spilled soft drinks! I feel so much better about leaving it in the car, safely tucked under the front seat rather than on the dash or under something on the seat. I’m ordering a half dozen more for other things I want to protect. I love that it has a strap on the case I can use to secure it to a hook or my backpack, or while on my boat. This would make the perfect tackle box for fishing when you only want a handful of items to tuck in your vest, or for small tools etc. Love it love it love it! I’m ordering additional cases for First Aid, Diabetes supplies, cooking supplies while camping and for my socket sets. So many possibilities!

Case is very crush resistant. I’m not saying you can stand on it, but it’s going to survive anything an airline monkey can throw at it.
I would say it is water resistant. I wouldn’t worry about anything inside getting wet if it were in a backpack, left on a table outside during a rain etc. I wouldn’t say water-proof, but this case is going to protect your stuff from pretty much whatever your forgetfulness might do to it.

I just can’t see anything wrong with this case. I think I lucked out and picked the perfect case for my needs. Highly reccomend it.

I bought this case to replace a lost case for my Magellan 9250T-LMB. The fit is perfect. I am extremely pleased. The case is much more protective than the soft case that I previously had.
